Arena: Battle for Koom Valley (Discworld - Dwarves vs Trolls)

Rules:

• Competitors cannot post here in the first hour after the Thread goes up, or in the last hour before the poll closes. Violation of this rule results in a loss of 1 vote point.
• Each Competitor gets up to 30 posts to debate their positions.
• Non-debate posts must either be posted in the discussion thread or, if they have to be posted here, must be labeled as a non-debate post.
• All players in the League are strongly encouraged to vote in every match.
• Each Competitor is expected to Vote for their own team, otherwise the final vote will be short by 1.
• Only one member of a 2-man team may vote for their team.
• Non-players are welcome to vote, however, for their votes to count they must either participate in the debates and/or state why they chose to vote as they did.
• The Matches will last for 3 days, which means they will end on Saturday of each week.

Team MCTB
After the last battle, Hippolyta’s soldiers land in the middle of a battle much to most of everyone’s chagrin but Red Sonja is excited but see their opponents on the side of the trolls and they’re on the side of the dwarves. The two sides clash and the battle begins with the Elementals of Doom providing assistance again.

Sailor Moon and Storm:

The two will have to take on Celine especially with Storm given the power of the Red Hulk, the utilization of Red Hulk’s abilities such as energy absorption and the Hollow Symbiote should give her an edge of some sort.

Whatever energy blasts are directed at Storm will absorb such abilities as the Kamehameha wave or any sort of the energy attacks from Dragonball Z and increase her strength while Sailor Moon will redirect whatever blasts at her with Mjolnir. To avoid whatever trickery will be sent at the two, they’ll have to rely on getting the attention of both armies by causing a huge lightning storm and avoiding an incoming attack from Celine.

Sailor Moon will use a variety of attacks with Mjolnir such as energy blasts and God-Blast and even using the Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss on Celine. Despite the fact that likely Celine will grow about 21 feet, the other team members and even a few of the troll and dwarf soldiers (unintentionally) assisting in distracting Celine which would give her enough time to utilize Thermo-blast or Anti-Force directly on her head.

Storm will provide an additional blow by striking Celine with lightning as well as punching Celine senseless.

With the ectoplasm powers, matter manipulation could assist her in fighting such an opponent with abilities.

Other team members will assist in this fight utilizing all their abilities to distract Celine either physically or utilize long range attacks like energy projectiles from Gamora or Black Widow providing force fields. Vin on the other hand will try a more psychological approach. After scanning his mind, she would find his ego to blow upon. She taunts him that the last opponent who managed to beat him was a little boy-she goads him to power up which meant him bulking up his body which would slow him down and give Sailor Moon extra speed to finish him. Basically he'd just resemble a fat giant in a fairy tale.

Vin and Sailor Moon:

Due to a variety of Vin’s acquired powers of the X-Factor as well as Sailor Moon with the abilities of Thor, they’re suitable to fight Manus Celer Dei. Again, Sailor Moon will utilize matter manipulation this this time to use against Manus. With Polaris’s abilities; she’ll use force fields (especially for the Celine fight), concussive blasts and manipulating iron. Basically, throw whatever iron armored trolls and dwarves at Manus and ingest energy piece by piece to unleash her Alomancy abilities.

And given M’s healing factor, she’ll likely survive what’s thrown back at her especially due to her superhuman reflexes. Psychologically though, she’d have to play into Manus’s ego-convincing her to break free from her group, Manus has all the power, why take orders? If Manus doesn’t do a face turn, Sailor Moon will likely kill her from behind with Anti-Force.

Medusa, Sailor Jupiter and She-Hulk:

Medusa will likely take on Blackest Bolt head on first in the hopes of getting it through his head to break free of his control from Eclipso. Sailor Jupiter in the meanwhile use all of her abilities to slow him down. Medusa will use her prehensile hair to either restrain his arms and legs use as a whip. Sailor Jupiter and She-Hulk will provide more assistance with the Elementals of Doom providing cover support. She-Hulk will likely debris at him with even She-Hulk throwing Sailor Jupiter (The Sailor Jupiter fastball) to body slam him.

If all else fails if Blackbolt can no longer resist (especially if she were to remind him that he allowed her to rule New Attilan), she will have no choice but use the powers of Anubis to age him into an old man-all the way to oblivion and maybe even doom Koom Valley altogether.

Black Widow, Gamora and Sailor Jupiter:

The three take on Umar with Sailor Moon and Storm providing additional assistance. Black Widow will use force fields to protect her teammates while Gamora uses her abilities as Captain Marvel, Quicksilver and Living Lightning to fight against her. The symbiote undoubtedly enhances Jupiter’s abilities and thus will use her flower based attacks like Flower Hurricane or Jupiter Oak Evolution. With the symbiote, she has accelerated healing factor and superhuman strength and durability.
Black Widow uses the super strength of She-Hulk, Thundra and Valkyrie to attack her physically especially given her martial arts training is likely enhanced.

Gamora using super speed and energy projectiles taking on Umar and Storm now creating a tornado to continue to the method of using extreme weather to keep their opponents off guard and as the Red Hulk, attack her physically. Sailor Moon will use the God-Blast and the Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss to finish her off or use Thermo-blast to do the job.

Red Sonja, Sailor Moon and Black Widow:

Finally, Red Sonja, Sailor Moon and Black Widow take on Invisicat. Given that Sailor Moon can teleport with Mjolnir, she’ll counter the sneak attacks. Black Widow will do the same given she has the abilities of Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman. With the other two providing a distraction in order to give Black Widow a clear shot in placing an invisible bubble over Invisicat’s head in order to suffocate her. For a clear shot, it will give Red Sonja the chance to give her a beatdown.

Vin provides support given M’s telepathic abilities and counter those attacks.

Team Estrecca
ARENA

The arena is a fairly generic fantasy battlefield without much actual magic involved, thousands of largely irrelevant NPCs and, by all indications, sufficiently bad weather that the place is going to flash flood not very long after the match starts. In turn, this probably means that visibility is limited from the initial distance of two kilometers between teams.

ENEMY TEAM

Sorry to say it, because MCBT has been a champ and stayed in competition even after realizing that the league doesn't work quite like he imagined it, but Hippolyta's Soldiers is for the most part a weak lineup, while Team Bad suffers from high degrees of overpoweredness.

And it really doesn't help him that he has largely abstained from making purchases, except for the Rulk power-up that he gave Storm. It probably wouldn't have been enough, but an additional ten would have gone a long way towards bridging the gap between our teams.

The main concerns here are Sailor Moon (she is bad, bad medicine for a team mostly formed by demons and monsters of various stripes), Storm (the Hollow and Rulk powersets make her a magic energy sponge that simply negates with her very presence some of the most indiscriminate moves I could pull), Gamora (probably the second greatest threat overall considering her sword and the speed she has available) and Vin (if only because of her combination of battlefield control and telepathy).

The rest, while not exactly meaningless, need not feature too prominently in my planning.

STRATEGY

CELINE
1) Will turn invisible and intangible, as to avoid exposing Storm to Jasmine's aura. It wouldn't be catastrophic if the hollow were to absorb that power, but it wouldn't be fun, either.
2) Still under invisibility, Celine will teleport behind Vin and use overshadowing to possess her. Any ectoplasmic clones that can be created at this point will be sent to do the same with other members of MCBT's team with Gamora, Medusa, Black Widow and Sailor Jupiter as the priorities.
3) At this point, Celine will engage Storm using the various powers of the overshadowed individuals which Storm cannot hard counter (telepathy through Vin's mimicry of M powers; stabbing her with Gamora's godslayer; blowing her up with the Invisible Woman's forcefields). If that fails, plan b involves waiting until Storm is distracted, before blasting her with as much power as half of the Celines can generate, while the other half beat her around physically.

CHEETAH
1) Will teleport through the Superflow to the enemy team's position and take what physical items can be stolen from the enemy team. Which pretty much means the Dog Talisman and the Talismans of Power, but she'll be taking those and using them for her own purposes, regardless.
2) After the item-theft, Cheetah will start with the weaker members of the enemy line-up and go up the priority list. She'll use mind control if possible, wreck them with physical attacks if mind control is impossible and dimension dump to the Superflow if physical attacks become impossible.
3) Will counteract as needed, to the extent granted by her abilities, any psionic attacks launched by the enemy team.

ECLIPSO
1) While avoiding Sailor Moon and Storm, Eclipso will go looking for the strongest enemies in the battlefield who haven't yet been compromised and/or annihilated by his partners in crime and expose them to the light of the Black Diamond.
2) Once he is fresh out of enemies, Eclipso will send his minions to help with the dogpiling of Sailor Moon.
3) Eclipso, meanwhile, will engage Storm. His opening move will be to teleport directly next to her and shout a dirge directly in her head. No magic involved, just good ol' Black Bolt's voice, followed right afterwards by as powerful a Master Blow as he can deliver.

LAWBRINGER QZTR
1) Since there is no kill like overkill, he'll do the work he has been doing for ten thousand years. Namely, nuke everything, while sparing his allies.

2) With any surviving enemies presumably reeling from what he just did, QZTR will follow his act by teleporting inside the body of said survivors and obliterating whatever is left afterwards with fiery cosmic energies. He'll start with Sailor Jupiter and go down from there.
3) Yes, he is using the Accelerator to do all that.

UMAR
1) Umar will engage Sailor Moon directly. Between her ridiculous magic powers, the equally ridiculous magic powers of the Emerald Eye and everything else, she is at least a match for Usagi. If at all possible, Umar will teleport to her hands the hammer. She is certainly unworthy of handling it, but there is some precedent for overcoming the enchantment by throwing enough magic at the problem. Since this is something that Umar can definitely do and it takes away quite a few of Usagi's options...
2) If things somehow get dicey, Umar will tap the powers of the Emerald Eye to send the other team to a time in the far future. Her evil may or may not be law by then, but it will be a battlefield removal from which I am all but certain Team MCBT cannot come back.

CONTINGENCIES

Standards contingencies are standard.

For a priority list... assume that once done with their primary goals, the members of Team Bad will attack the active enemies with the smaller credit values. This should eventually end in everyone dogpiling Sailor Moon.

There are a few issues that I'll adress at a later date, but just for the record Lawbringer QZTR is male. In as much as gender can be applied to Lawbringers, at any rate.

Speaking honestly, the hollow plus Red Hulk is a very powerful combo that shuts down most offensive options.

The tactics outlined don't really counter the stuff I make the fusion do through use and abuse of ectoplasmic powers, but the combo is nevertheless really powerful.

Let's ignore the parts about Sailor Moon being busy elsewhere and all that.

Allomantic pushes are not that fast and QZTR is a high level brick with superspeed, thanks to the accelerator. It is essentially impossible for this move to even start to inconvenience him.

Black Widow, Gamora and Sailor Jupiter

To note, Jupiter is described as helping with Black Bolt containment, which is no small thing, so she really shouldn't be available to tackle Umar. You also underuse Gamora, who should really be trying some kind of decapitation strike with the godslayer.

In a nutshell, the main issue I see here is that you have all your powerful characters getting involved in several fights, with no clear indication of which order of priority they do this in, so it gives the strong impression that they are trying to do everything more or less at the same time, which would greatly decrease the results of their efforts.

I don't want to fault MCBT here, the change in strat-writing is a good one and it's getting easier to figure out what's going on compared to what. However the Cell here is freaking brutal amongst several other issues noted.

Given their history together as well as the final few moments of Inhuman #12, I pretty much thought something like, "Wait, this part is kind of easy. She'd try talking to him first." And then considered the aforementioned comic in mind.
