Hoping for "First Class" level quality.

I wonder if they'll merge concepts with Generation X and bring yet another version of Emma Frost into that poor excuse of franchise continuity.

What happened to the X-Force movie they were going to make?

If this happens, I wonder if Stewart will be Prof X or will the reins be handed over to James McAvoy?

Even if this flops, I highly doubt Marvel is getting the rights back anytime soon. The most we could realistically expect is a cross-company collaboration and even that isn't very likely.
    Wish Mathew Vaughn was directing.

DoFP was boring I hope this has First Class level of quality.

Ohh boy, I hope we see Iliyana and Sam in this! And I guess Roberto can be used again (maybe a younger version from the one we saw in DOFP)

New mutants is a good way to. With the X-Men films re-establishing mutant history with the X-Men we're used to the New Mutants can really be established as the new generation in a film set in the modern era.

Why exactly are they doing this, when they have perfectly good teenage X-Men already? Either Apocalypse is awesome, which would mean we would rather see more of those guys instead of new ones, or it flops, and people will skip this because Apocalypse killed their faith in Fox. This is a really weird plan.

On topic, YES. YES. YES. Fantastic news. The New Mutants have some of my favourite X-Men counted amongst their ranks (Magma, Sunspot and cannoball) so I'm pumped for this movie.

He's doing a Flash Gordon movie next, which sounds so much more interesting.

    Yeah.

If the movie is really that far away they may as well have waited on announcing it until after Apocalypse when it's likely to be more relevant.

Thinking about it, why didn't they figure to do New Mutants first and then follow up with Apocalypse?

My guess is that it will be a sort-of "composite" team taking character from a number of different sources. New Mutants, Generation X, New X-Men, etc. For example, I could see them potentially putting Jubilee on the team in the films.
