agreed with both posts.
Its the character that makes the most sense. Tho I could say the same with Charles Xavier, or Kitty. Any X-Men showing up would make sense to me, since the comics basically show the new mutants sharing the same home as the X-Men.
Any other character outside of the x-men would feel forced, imo.

thats not the reason of the push back. it was to change the tone a bit.
the new character idea probably came after, to appeal a bit more to general audience
