Indigenous People (Native is kinda an insensitive term) make up 1% of America's population. Its not like its a lot of them to just choose from. They should've just cast the Jacobs girl. Blu is gonna get killed for not being 100%
No wonder Boone quit twitter this fucking fan base is ravenous
*sigh*
Welcome to 2017 folks, where a non white Brazilian actor isn't black enough and a native isn't 100% native enough.
Exactly... we really need to think of the movie Logan as a "What If". That is actually what the original OML comic story WAS after all. If you take it as serious canon it radically changes so many things, and introduces MANY inconsistencies.
THe movie is playing fast and loose with facts clearly, it seems obvious the "Core" team was offed and that is why Wolvie and X are hiding and not still with the rest of the team carrying out missions against an obviously corrupt tyrannical (dare I say post Trump...) government. It would make absolutely no sense at all for plenty of XMen to have survived but Wolvie and Caliban act like they're the only mutants around and WOlvie is ultra mind boggled when he meets X-23
Another thing you need to just take with a grain of salt. There is no way in hell it's only been one year and all that has already happened. Things look super dire and bleak and hopeless. One year???? Plus with presumably tons of powerful trained mutants still out there??? Seriously watch the movie again makes NO sense to believe that I don't care what the exact specifics on that radio say. The overall film refutes it in its mood and tone.
Are you basing this assertion on the huge recent upswing in numbers of Cheyenne-based actresses of major blockbuster quality? Just wondering given your "It's 2017" remark. I fail to see how the year makes this any easier of a task given the actually tiny amounts of people involved and the high stakes for such a film.
I know it's "not the same thing" but at a certain point you guys really do come across as sounding SLIGHTLY racist yourselves with this absolutist obsession with making sure a give role is 100% ethnically accurate in your minds (even though in the comics it seems to vary artist/writer to artist/writer....). It's almost like if someone said "I refuse to watch Deadpool 2 because they made my Domino not white anymore, Domino is obviously an albino or super pale, how dare they". You would seriously think that person was a racist! I know white supremacy is far more of a thing than black supremacy or asian supremacy or native american supremacy, it has had more real life consequences and whites are still more wealthy etc I understand. But at a certain core level, becoming THIS race obsessed is just not healthy and actually goes AGAINST the core ideas people like MLK Jr spoke about

Forget the old ways - Krakoa is god.

Brazil's pop is 53% Afro Brazilian and people who identify with Afro Brazilian. I don't care what so called "most people" picture. It's not accurate and people in Brazil or with Brazilian heritage will tell you that. It's that type of mindset that discredits Afro-Brazilians, Afro Mexicans, Afro-Chileans, and so on. it's bad enough that roles for Afro Brazilians are low tier in their own country and the issue of racism is very real in Brazil. But wiping out the character's Afro-Brazilian roots is wrong. Period.
The actor doesn't look like the character from New Mutants to X-Force to etc. just like the Non-Brazilian Mexican actor in the first film. And those skin lightened pictures is not Sunspot. This skin lightening thing in comics has been an issue long before the movie was even made.

Would you rather have someone who understands your culture/language and can give the writers/director/producers some good feedback, or just someone who looks the part?
It's a bit like saying you want someone who looks a certain way over whether or not they can actually act.
I'm also Brazillian and this guy is considered white here.
It's insulting that just getting the nationality right makes it ok to some people.
Not all Brazillians are people of color and I really don't consider him to be one. I doubt he ever suffered prejudice for being black like Sunspot's character would.
The Defenders persist even with Actual Brazilians calling BS.
And lol at the Defenders acting like you cant find good actors who look the part. As if we know this actor is anyway talented.
The standard whitewash justification they cast the most talented actor...based on what this guys biggest roles are bit parts in Teen Wolf and 13 Reasons Why.
I don't even remember him from 13RW.
Boone said it was important to cast accurately then pulls this BS if you don't care about it then don't act like you do.
Beyond that I agree with AbnormallyNormal in respect to Logan.
My reading of the movie was that the Charles killed or crippled pretty much everyone in the area 15-20 years ago except Wolverine. And its been at least a decade since we saw New Mutants actually born.
