I liked most of these but my favorites were Batman, Grayson and Hal.

Check out Lion Forge's Catalyst Prime Universe. Its the best damned superhero verse in comics. Diverse characters and interesting stories set in a universe where anyone can be a hero. And company that prides itself on representation both in the comics themselves and in the people behind them.

They did a great job with these, I like the Hal Jordan and Black Canary ones the most so far
Of course, I dare. I'm Hal Jordan.

Hmm, I'll be honest, I thought the Teen Titan month had a better selection. Not that these are bad in any way, it's just I'm not that much into the 1930-50'ties posters and pin-up art for this to strike a cord with me.

However, I am just noticing these covers do seem to bring out the double-standards in some people on Twitter.

Like there were a bunch of people complaining, quite loudly, about the Joker-variant cover for Batgirl, saying that it was a demeaning portrayal of the lead character, out of tone with the content inside, and some even getting on the soapbox and claiming it was somekind of broadside aimed to keep women out of comic-shops.
And with the reveal of these variant covers, I am just noticing the very same people clapping their hands in praise... over some variant covers thats actually no less demeaning (in certain cases) or out of tone than the cover they effectively helped remove from shelves a few months ago.

He's 21! Unless it's a flashback cover to his actual circus days, then yes... it'd be as underage as Wonder Girl's boobs in the Teen Titans #1 cover.

None of these are even remotely similar in tone, style, or are as "demeaning" as that Joker Batgirl cover. What ones do you think are?

Yeah, there's a whole lot of difference between humiliating violence and pin-up illustrations that might seem a little risqué at worst.

It'd be hard to be as badly thought out as that Joker cover, but some of these are pretty tedious (and some are really good). Apparently someone felt we weren't seeing enough skirts riding up on covers that month, so they invented an entire conceit just for that.

Not horrible, but eye-rolling for me. At least Dick and Aquaman seem vaguely in character with just a switch of clothes.

Now, once you add a story in, as with the Amecomi stuff, I can let it slide more if it's quality in other ways. On their own, though... there's not a lot of difference between this cover featuring a superheroine's buns and this other cover featuring a superheroine's buns but in a retro costume.

Midnighter jumps out of bed while a guy's in it, people act like it's this big in your face thing. Spider-Woman puts on a jacket, part of the internet loses its mind and prepared for gender war. These covers, though, which are considerably more sexualized and, yeah, objectifying... it's business as usual. If that wasn't the case, it wouldn't grate so much.
Patsy Walker on TV! Patsy Walker in new comics! Patsy Walker in your brain! And Jessica Jones is the new Nancy! (Oh, and read the Comics Cube.)

You think so? Back in the day some of this stuff was the closest you could get to pornography.

And yes, do try and tell me how bad a few tears on a variant cover is in this age where there isn't a month without a comicbook where one or more of the main characters is depicted as either dead, disfigured or otherwise mutilated on the standard cover.

Yes, they're certainly sexualized and objectifying - this time with men included. But I think that this Bombshells concept gets more of a free pass because it's actually a whole lot more subdued and in-your-face than the regular super hero offerings. Compared to, let's say, Manara's Spider-Woman or the Catwoman #0 cover, the Bombshells illustrations seem tasteful and are actually interesting.

It always feels like there's a story behind them, and now there will be! I'm really interested to see what the Marguerites come up with.

Actually, there has always been hardcore porn available. The only difference is that it was much, much more difficult to obtain before the '60s.

Guys and gals, I don't want to have the Batgirl variant cover rehashed here again. Let's stick to the topic.
