Default BLACK CANARY Interview w/Fletcher & Wu - Exclusive Preview Art!

MTV News spoke with new BLACK CANARY series writer Brenden Fletcher and artist Annie Wu about Dinah's upcoming kung fu rock 'n' roll road trip, with exclusive art from the book.

It's the first time they talk about the bandmates in more detail, I think. Interesting that there's one who "builds her own noisemaking devices, or noise manipulation devices", that should be convenient for exploring new ways of using the Canary Cry!

There's also this hilarious bit about Rocky Horror that led to this comment from Cameron Stewart:

From the preview art shown, this fight sequence stood out for me. Annie Wu is gonna kill it on this book, I can't wait!

Impressive art and interesting interview. I'm gonna love this book!

I love Dinah's face in the second-to-last panel. That alone tells me this book is going to be so much fun.
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

    Looks great!
And very cool interview. Especially the part about how American comics are finally accepting non-tradtional concepts and styles.

I wasn't going to get this one but now I might have to give it a look after all. I didn't like the direction Batgirl took but this looks like it might be fun.

Wish they'd had pics of Brenden Fletcher all dressed up as Frank-N-Furter, though.

Looks pretty punk. And their Bowie/Grace Jones fusion is amazing.

Not that I wasn't already all-in on this one.

Well OK this looks nicer than I thought it would.

Still a tiny bit skeptical though

Love the direction Batgirl is on and really loved Black Canary in the book.
This new series is a must buy and read and save for me.

Still not a huge fan of Wu's work, but if this means we get WAY past the miserable last run of BoP, then I am all for it!!

I forgot to mention, they said there's an appearance by a character created by Brenden Fletcher from another book working closely with Black Canary's band. So it must be either someone from Gotham Academy (weren't some of the students fans of her previous band?) or one of Batgirl's supporting cast. I could see Frankie starting to play a bigger role here as the new "Oracle", too.
