I stopped by Purchase Street Records earlier today. It's my last big purchase possibility for a while since the new year means all the big yearly bills will be coming in.

So I picked up the following albums:

Poison - Look What The Cat Dragged In
    Poison - Native Tongue
    Poison - Crack A Smile...and More!
    Poison - Hollyweird
Dokken - Under Lock And Key
Dokken - Back For The Attack
Dokken - Beast From The East
    Dokken - Dysfunctional
    Testament - The Legacy
    Testament - The New Order
    Testament - The Ritual
    Testament - Souls Of Black
    Testament - Low

I also got a few more copies of the four song EP from the band All Sinners. The shop owner, a friend of mine, is the drummer for the band and I have to say that this is a damn good collection of songs. I've been talking it up online and more than a few people have checked it outline and said great things when they shared their takes on it via Facebook. If anyone's interested, you can find the EP on Spotify and other streaming services.

I picked up the D.D. Verni & The Cadillac Band album "Let's Rattle" on Saturday.

And then today in the mail I got four CDs.

One of my music PR contacts asked me to review a couple of albums he's promoting and he sent along physical copies of the albums.

    Those albums are:

    Zeroking's American Savior

Rat Rod - Four on the Floor

He also sent along two bonus albums:

Generation Landslide - Ruling The Street Scene

Migliori Amici & Co - (best of friends)

    Sooo I got this:

Yes, it's kind of expensive. And a lot of it is pop cringe. And I had almost all of it on vinyl.
But: Bonus tracks on almost every CD. And seasoned Soul music journalist David Nathan puts a lot of love into the 64 page booklet, giving background info on almost every song, excerpts form interviews, context from various autobiographies. I'm having fun with this box set, even if it contains my least favorite Dionne album, the one with the Bee Gees.

My friend's record shop, Purchase Street Records, was celebrating his own birthday, the 1-year anniversary of the shop's relocation to a bigger place and the sales tax-free weekend with a decent sale today (and running through tomorrow obviously).

So I stopped by to go through the CDs to see what I might want. In the regular CD section I only found one thing to pull the trigger on: Tesla's Mechanical Resonance album.

But he had a couple tables laid out with $2 CDs so I went through those and I found four discs to add to my collection.

The first one was a collection of 28 Irish Pub Songs done by various artists. I like Irish music and figured this would be good to check out.

Then I got Billy Joel's Greatest Hits Volume 3. I have the first two volumes and had just listened to that a couple weeks ago so it was cool to discover that he had a copy of this one on CD.

The other two CDs were both from Joe Bonamassa. The first one was his 2nd solo album So, It's Like That. And it was apparently one of the first 25,000 copies produced because it was the two disc set, the 2nd disc being a DVD from the tour for his first album A New Day Yesterday. The second album I got of his was the third solo album Blues Deluxe.

I also picked up a cassette copy of the Heretic album Breaking Point. I recently had my vinyl copy signed by the album's co-producer Kurdt Vanderhoof, but when I saw that the store had gotten a cassette copy I wanted to get it so I could do one of my Cassette Chronicles articles about it.

Just picked up Madonna's Hard Candy. I now have all of her Sire/Warner Brothers cds. Not interested in anything after that.

I am really liking Hard Candy so far. I am a huge fan of J Timberlake's Future Sex Love Sounds and this is similar.

Not sure why I never bought this before now.
