Whoa... didn't see that coming. This thing has been his baby for years.
Fine.
I think Marvel should just kill it.
Why couldn't Marvel just let Wright make the film he wanted and integrate it later?
I mean they kept Ant-man out of Avengers just so Wright could make this film. Why not let him make the damn movie?
I'm really disappointed by this news. I had complete faith in Edgar Wright to get Ant-Man right. I really can't think of anybody more perfect for the job.
Russia is cold, why can't Batman have a warm hat?
I'm pretty bummed about this. Wright is a quality filmmaker. He handles comedy and action well. It seemed like a match made in heaven for Marvel's current sensibilities.
I would not be surprised if the problem is that they're trying to integrate it into the MCU for Avengers 3.

I love Edgar Wright's films. I'm really disappointed in this.
Hopefully this isn't another TDW-type situation. Marvel micromanaging to the point where they drive off several directors, and the micro-manage the actual director to the point that he was unable to make the best film that he could have otherwise. They also apparently meddled in TIH and IM 2 pretty heavily as well, but let Whedon, Gunn, and Black mostly do their own thing. So it appears to depend on the director.
Not sure if everyone's seen it yet on the front page, but apparently Wright is walking off the Ant-man production over creative differences.
Word is that Marvel already has a backup director.
What I find odd is that this was Wright's film from day one. He came in with a story he wanted to tell that they apparently loved. Marvel held Ant-man back until Wright had the opening in his schedule, and now things have gotten so bad that they couldn't make it work?
Truly disappointing news.

No big deal. I didn't care for "Scott Pilgrim." Furthermore, Marvel has an excellent track record in translating their comics to the big screen. I trust Marvel will work things out to the satisfaction of most fans.
Oh my... What happened?! That's unexpected. What a twist! Will we still get an Ant-Man film? Personally, I'd still prefer Hank instead of Lang as the lead, but now it looks like everything is called into question.

Cyborg is a Leaguer forever, not a Titan"There are two main times when comic book fans gripe: When something changes and when something stays the same."
Probably for the best if they just scrap the movie entirely. Ant-man was always going to be the riskiest of Marvel's announced movies. Even Guardians had a good hook that would not make it as risky but Ant-man? Not that strong of a chance.
I respect Marvel but when they do things like this, it makes them just as bad as WB or Fox.
I agree.
Wright was the only reason I was even interested in this film.
I'd rather they scrap Ant-man and go back to the drawing board. I don't care if they only get one film out in 2015. Age of Ultron will be big enough to buoy the brand.
