And, yes, it most definitely started to became formulaic but that was likely an editorial directive as there was no way Peter could continue aging the way he was in Lee's stories and even Conway's or he would have been a flabby 50-year old by the time Venom was introduced! I enjoy Wolfman's run greatly after #188; his first 8 issues or so I thought were pretty weak.
Wolfman took a while to get going, but he had just over ten consecutive issues that were exceptional in the lead-up to 200. I'd say Wein only hit that quality with his first three issues.

I doubt it'll be a lot of buyers, although enough to make a profit for Marvel.

    Evidently, "a lot" is relative.

What always clouds me when talking about Wolfman era Spider-man is that I get all caught up in waves of nostalgia--running to the pharmacy with a few bucks my mom gave me, looking for the new books, hoping there was a Spider-man there, then running back home with that week's Peter Parker, Amazing, Marvel Team-up, or Marvel Tales. Hell I remember loving the Spidey Super Stories. Issues 185-200 really coincide with my first ability to read them to myself. Those issues are always golden to me.

    It's a moving target.

Technically, a few thousand fans and a few hundred libraries would be a lot in a few contexts. But not in others (IE- compared to sales of something like the Spider-Men TPB.)

I love Len Wein's run, his Goblin arc is one of my favorite Spider-Man stories, and his run has plenty of great moments.

I’m almost finished buying Gerry Conway’s original Clone Saga, and I just bought issues 151 and 152 of Wein’s run. I plan on eventually getting the rest of it. Hopefully it’s good Spidey stories I’ll be picking up.

Ugh. Only a couple issues closer. My comic related ADHD kicked in, and stopped picking up these issues. But the hunt is back on.

Wein and Andru's run is better than or at least equal to Conway's run and it beats the ass out of Wolfman's run. A.

Though, it didn't wow me as much as 80's Stern, David and DeMatteis aka Bronze age I thought it was a great run.

I would love it if the Wein/Andru Spidey era made it to the Epic line.

So I don’t have the complete run yet, but I like it. I really like it. Nothing status quo changing, but really enjoyable. Especially after the roller coaster ride that was Conway’s run.

    A+

This run is a sentimental favorite for me ... because when I was a kid my sisters BF at the time gave me a box of old comics that had Spidey books starting with the end of the Romita era, with the majority of the rest from the Conway run and this one.

So my attachment to the character, his supporting cast and his adventures started with this interpretation. In my mind, Ross's interpretation of Pete, Aunt May, Gwen and MJ are what they actually look like.

I can still go back and read issues from that era and get the feels. It brings back memories.
