I like that the Orphans of X is giving me Court of Owls vibes. I hope they stick around and are developed as proper rogues over time.
If not Warren or Julian, who then would be the best match for Laura? Not that she needs a man to complete her, but it's fun to speculate.
If not Hellion, I'd be intrigued by a pairing with Elixir. It was a really sweet moment in X-Force when he saved her life. And with his recent developments of having to balance his dark/light sides and death/life powers, it's an interesting complement to Laura's instincts and her choice not to kill. It would feel more genuine than the Warren "I know darkness I'm so edgy!" Nonsense.
A Mercury pairing could also be nice. They've historically been very supportive to one another. I really want to see Cess and Laura go on some espionage missions together.
Helix will always be my OTP, but I still think it could be interesting to see her date a flatscan. Doesn't necessarily need to be a civilian. Like, a cop, or an ex-soldier, or someone else who can at least handle themselves.
As an aside, I've always found it amusing when fanbases love to slash characters even when they've never shown an interest in the same sex in canon.
Also, there were some teases of Cess and Laura in 'Pixie Strikes Back'. I think one of the bullies in the psychedelic, demon high school said that Laura was in love with a "big gay cheerleader who wouldn't return her calls" or something like that.
All of the New X-Men are definitely over 18 and in the 19-21 range. Magik and Laura could be an interesting road for them, even though Kitty or Leah are definite endgames for Yana. Maybe a little 6-month fling?
LMAO!!!
Okay. So, the All-New Wolverine comic doesn't represent it as it appeared before, then?
What's a "flatscan"?
I guess some people like to go farther afield in this element. Me personally, I don't think that way.
I've also noticed that in fiction, you establish two characters as being close, a lot of people seem to automatically assume that a love story is the only viable endgame, as if platonic relationships didn't exist.
Doctor Strange: "You are the right person to replace Logan."
X-23: "I know there are people who disapprove... Guys on the Internet mainly."
(All-New Wolverine #4)
I'm usually seeing this as it needing to be something both Laura and the other get something out of that they dont get on their own.
In Laura's case I would say she needs someone who she can and will open up to about all the things she keeps hidden away... Logan did something like this for her, but it was more of a case of him knowing it was in there in advance, in this case it would need to be Laura herself opening up... and I never quite got the impression Hellion or Warren do this (I kinda see both as cases of 'here is boy, here is girl, u together now').
And the other party... asides from a pretty face to wake up to in the morning, what does Laura give them? A foot up the arse when needed? Someone who knows how rubbish life can be and rise above it?
For these reasons I kinda see Jubilee and Mercury as the most likely pairings of the existing people. Otherwise Finesse might have been an option, but I think that bridge was burned.
Armor? Where did that one come from? I can't remember that many interactions between them beyond Armor being impressed with her tracking skills. Though Didn't Laura once protect Armor when the mansion was under attack?
For a girl ship I guess I'd go Jubilee but I see them more like sisters since besides Meghan she's probably the closest thing to a sister she's ever had. Maybe Surge in the same way I ship Surge with Hellion because I feel like one of their arguments is going to boil over into angry sex.
Away from lesbian fantasy booking I did think that her and Elixir were a funny pairing. He'd sort of be a slightly better version of what Warren is now, all the niceness and worrying without being Richie Rich coming to the rescue with expensive toys.
In protest against Marvel's constant ignoring of Surge.
