Default How will dc "you" work?

Wil there be different categories? Will they not be a connected dc universe like we have had? Are they all stand alone stories? If so what about the crossover of superman in the truth arc? Why is the justice league america and the justicd league the same roster? Confused

DC You is just a marketing campaign.

There's still continuity between books (the Superman and Batman books, GL books, etc) but they aren't all being forced to operate on the same strict timeline. There's a few books that are non-continuity/standalone like Bat-mite or Prez but the bulk of DC's books are still connected.

JLA has the main seven characters because that's what Hitch wanted. Justice League has those seven plus Mister Miracle, Power Ring, Lex Luthor, Captain Cold and Shazam.

It is not that this is no longer a shared universe or anything, as there were still books in the original New 52 that stood on their own or outright ignored other books, but it is more about getting away from the idea that tied together the New 52, which was that all the books had to have some sort of similarity because they wanted a new reader to feel that if they read one DC book and liked it then any other DC book would be easy to get into because they would know what to expect (in terms of tone and style, I guess).

This is just all about, aside from marketing, being able to say anything goes and don't complain when all these books don't do what you expect in the name of continuity: because they never really did.

Or to put it another way, in some cases, in order for things to fit together, fans may have to come up with their own explanations, because DC is just focused on telling stories. Which is not a bad thing.

It's worked for Dynamite and their pulp heroes.
Anything could be connected but it isn't referenced.
Leaves each title as independent or as tied together as the reader chooses them to be.

They might even throw in a line or two at the end of Convergence about time still being wonky and causing discrepancies and stuff like they did with Hypertime.
