A dixie girl in short shorts on the cover might sell this comic.
I'm more excited for this book than I have been for anything in years.
Aaaand, this book is amazing. It combines two of my favorite things (comics and football) and does it perfectly. The villains are a high school football coach and his team? Yes, please.
"The more 'realistic' superheroes become the less believable they are." - David Mazzucchelli
I love the protagonist. It's his fate to hit some school football players with the God enhanced baseball "bat".
He is the hero they deserve, the "Bat Man".
Unsurprisingly, I loved issue 2. Loved it, loved it, loved it.
I'm not sure how I feel about the baseball bat appearing in the wreckage of the tree after the lightning bolt, but I love everything else about this book. It's got the vibe of a great western like "Unforgiven", but in a setting that is woefully underused in modern fiction.
How great of a name is "Coach Boss" for a bad guy?
Pretty damn great!
I wasn't sold after issue 1 but issue 2 was great. On board for the long haul. The art is gritty and so perfect for this book and the story seems to be picking up to a good pace. Looking forward to the real action beginning next issue.
New to comics and added this one to my list. Just read this issue and boy is it amazing. This will wind up being one of my favorite titles I'm reading, I can tell. That whole southern football town feel is so interesting to me.
