What do you think are the most overrated and underrated heroes and/or supporting character from DC Comics? And why?
What do you think are the most overrated and underrated heroes and/or supporting character from DC Comics? And why?
Hawkman is probably the coolest character they own
Both Batman and Superman are obviously not that smart. Mr Terrific is so smart, he should be ruling the planet already. Lex should've beaten Superman long ago.
Superman is smart when the writers remember. And yeah, I know you're joking.
Also, I think Hal Jordan is overrated in every single way.
Overrated but I still love them:
Dick Grayson
Wally West
Damian Wayne
Just plain overrated:
Kyle Rayner
Barbara Gordon as Oracle
Any Deathstroke not written by Wolfman and Perez
Dr. Hurt
Any villain created by Grant Morrison, even if I do like a lot of them. They're just hyped up too much.
Tim Drake
Cassandra Cain
Stephanie Brown
The First Born
Underrated:
The Omega Men- seeing the previews for the new series made me realize this, and I'm pretty interested
Wonder Woman's entire rogues gallery, particularly Cheetah, Psycho and Giganta
Black Canary
Aquaman and Hawkman probably should be promoted to have more god like powers so they can fight superman and wonder woman. The Flash tv show is doing a good job of letting Flash change time and to go to other dimensions. Cw is also doing a great job of upgrading the powers of Ray Palmer.
Aquaman is underrated.
The Gypsies had no home. The Doors had no bass.
Does our reality determine our fiction or does our fiction determine our reality?
Whenever the question comes up about who some mysterious person is or who is behind something the answer will always be Frank Stallone.
"This isn't a locking the barn doors after the horses ran way situation this is a burn the barn down after the horses ran away situation."
Overrated:
Hal Jordan - I don't dislike him by any means, I just find him to be too archetypal and less interesting than other Lantern characters
Batman - Only for the fact that he does not need to show up in every single non-Batrelated book to play the role of Batjerk. In his own series and other Batfamily books, he's fine.
Barry Allen - Like with Hal, he just wasn't as interesting as Wally
Jason Todd - Ever since his UTRH, he hasn't had anything worthwhile, and he's just redundant in the Bat family
Underrated:
Guy Gardner - Whether as a comical ******* in JLI to an almost-tragic anti-hero in Red Lanterns, he's been enjoyable as a character.
Cassandra Cain - Remember when she was Batgirl?
Frankenstein
Helena Bertinelli as Huntress - she was great under Greg Rucka
Over:
Batgirl
Wonderwoman
Hal Jordan
Under
Hawkgirl
Huntress
John Stewart
Over:
Hal Jordan
Under:
Hawkgirl (Shayera)
EDIT:
Oh, I see the OP is asking us why we feel this way. Concerning Hal Jordan, it's because some (including people working at DC) act like he's this ultra icon, but no one outside of a portion of comics fandom seems to care or have any appreciation for the character. For Hawkgirl, she's a character who reached notoriety on television that DC completely, utterly failed to capitalize on.

Tim Drake - I'm sure he's great but I just don't get the appeal.
The extent of Deathstroke's abilities is overrated at times.
Underrated:
Hawkgirl (Shayera) - same as what Desh said
Underrated: Swamp Thing
Overrated: Superman
