    Default Post Convergence DC

I'm really confused, is Convergence a reboot or not? either way what's happening after it?

It's not a reboot, but a lot of the books will be heading in new directions after Convergence, with good jumping on points, but all set in the same continuity as the New 52 books. There will also be more of an emphasis on books telling their own stories and having their own style over tight continuity. Also, allegedly a lot less crossovers.

Convergence is mainly just filler to give DC time and something to put out as they move offices from NY to CA. It isn't a Secret Wars, or a Flashpoint, type of event where it is going to bring about all these big changes. Pretty much all the books they were releasing before Convergence, and the new ones they are releasing after it, aren't impacted by anything Convergence related.

Convergence is a band-aid event written and drawn ages ago to be released while DC moves offices from New York to Burbank.

Post-Convergence, DC is making a big effort to create good jumping on points for new readers . It is also taking the opportunity to emphasize their new philosophy on storytelling, specifically that they are going to allow books more freedom to tell their own stories and drastically decrease the amount of times books are forced/asked/told to create tie-in issues and/or join events. Books will be allowed to flourish or flounder on their own.

And thus also a good dropping off point to then following via the trade paperbacks at 1/2 the cost though at 6+months behind everyone else.

how is it going to affect the dc universe story wise, like how is it going to affect the actual characters? e.g. dead characters, character replacements from different worlds, etc.
also is this going to be a way to bring back bruce wayne or is he really dead for now, if he is really dead, does anyone know who the new batman will be?

You can read the solicitations for June and beyond, or you could always wait and see what happens.

It probably won't really effect the prime earth characters much, just the earth 2 characters in the end. The new batman was revealed in the preview for batman in the FCBD issue Divergence, which can be read here for free. If you don't feel like reading that, the new batman is....spoilers:
Jim Gordan in a robot suit
    end of spoilers

If i'm a new reader and I plan on reading once the New 52 relaunches the ongoing titles, I won't need to know about "these big changes" right? The ones that take place in Secret Wars.

Edit: Oops. Secret Wars is Marvel
