Thats just too many freaking books... talk about saturating the market with mediocre and worthless titles instead of focusing on your main continuity and power players.
    Pull List:
DC: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Action Comics, Detective Comics, Green Lanterns, The Flash, Aquaman, Titans, Justice League, HJATGL, Supergirl, Superwoman, DC Bombshells
Marvel: CANCELLED (good luck with your seasonal approach and constant reboots... I'll miss the characters though)
    Zenescope: Grimm Fairy Tales

I'm worried that's just too many books. I love that they're giving lesser known characters a chance, but by launching so many solos like that at basically the same time may actually hurt their chances of surviving. I think 60 books would've been a nice number and way more sustainable than more than 70 (because we all know they aren't done announcing new books).

So I was bored and decided to crunch some numbers on these books:

26 are titles that were active prior to Secret Wars with the same name
9 are titles that were active before Secret Wars, but have new names (e.g., Extraordinary X-Men, All-New All-Different Avengers)
10 are titles featuring characters/teams who have had ongoings in the past, but did not immediately before Secret Wars
9 are titles featuring characters who have had mini-series in the past, but never ongoings
6 are titles featuring new versions of old characters or teams that have had series in the past (All-New Wolverine counts here, but not Sam Wilson: Captain America, because Sam took over the Cap name before Secret Wars)
3 are titles featuring characters who have never headlined a comic before
4 are Secret Wars tie-ins promoted to ongoings
6 are expansions for characters/franchises who were active before Secret Wars (e.g., Spider-Man/Deadpool, International Iron Man)

And then there's Contest of Champions, which fits into several categories, and also none.

Of further interest is that All-New Wolverine, Howling Commandos of SHIELD, and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaurs all fit into both the "new versions of old characters" and "former ongoings" categories. (Howling Commandos further fits into the "expansion" category.)

Can someone explain which of these 'series' do you think will be key, or stay canon in the marvel universe? It seems like there are so many series that half of what happens in them is not going to be considered important, anyway. For example: What is the difference between the FOUR X-Men series?

    All-New X-Men (Dennis Hopeless/Mark Bagley) (December)
Extraordinary X-Men (Jeff Lemire/Humberto Ramos) (November)
Uncanny X-Men (Cullen Bunn/Greg Land) (January)
    X-Men '92 (Chris Sims/Chad Bowers/Alti Firmansyah)

I have a few of the copper age Uncanny xmen, which of these, if any, would be related to those long running series from back in the day? I have been out of collecting since the 90's so this has been sort of an information overload time for me to get back into the game. I guess the same question would apply to all the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy series, too.

Short answer: None of them are connected to or related to the long-running series of the past. All New All Different Marvel is basically a do-over (the events in the past still happened, but don't affect anything now).

    Long answer:

Extraordinary X-Men - this one could be seen as the most "important"/"key" X-Men title because it will detail mutantkind's current status in the Marvel Universe.

Uncanny X-Men - some villains plus morally gray X-Men team up to handle situations in this new status quo for mutantkind, as generally described in Extraordinary X-Men.

All-New X-Men - there's a new Wolverine travelling around with young versions other X-Men characters, plus a couple of teen characters from before ANAD Marvel (who you might've seen in Wolverine & the X-Men, Generation Hope, etc.). They're running around in the new status quo but not interacting with it much.

X-Men '92 - this title has nothing to do with ANAD Marvel status quo or story canon at all. It's an alternate universe title.

Not included on your list, but:

Old Man Logan (January) - If you're familiar with Old Man Logan from series in the past, it's the same guy. He comes from an alternate future and is running around in the new status quo.

All-New Wolverine - Just a Wolverine title in the new status quo.

Ahh thanks this has helped me understand a little better. In your opinion, which ones will be the most key, or, put another way, which could be the most collectible? I know new comics basically hold little to no value potential but I also like to buy something that I think has a possibility. Inhumans, Doctor Strange have movies coming, but they also have the older series that already exist and are likely to be more collectible.

Does All-new Wolverine break through and become a permanent fixture or do they realize they need the old wolvey back in a year or two? If they never bring him back, then I guess it would be good to start on the wolverine or new thor, but I get a feeling they can't go on that way forever.

Angela and Scarlet Witch are both super vixens, and I think these are both their first series? That makes them interesting. I also like the look of the new Venom. I've only started on Deadpool so far. So many different things going on, hard to identify what is really going to be important and what isn't. Thanks and hope to hear your opinions.

When it comes to ANAD Marvel, I think it's still way too new to get a sense of what's key/important, so you should probably just buy what you want to buy. Though I will say that Extraordinary X-Men does seem like it will be the key series for the X-Men for the time being (which is the only part of Marvel I'm paying attention to at the moment).

As for what's more collectible... I'm gonna let someone else handle this, 'cos I'm not a collector (aside from '90s comic Generation X and a few odds and ends from Marvel and DC).

But I will say that any #1s are going to be collectible... right? ;D Blade #1 with the female Blade has caught my eye in particular. And Angela is a character who originally came from a different publisher... that and the fact that it's one of Marvel's only gay/lesbian leading titles (if not the only one?) makes her more intriguing/collectible, doesn't it?

I do feel like Laura is going to be the only and actual Wolverine for some time to come, just 'cos now they can market Logan as Old Man Logan so they haven't really lost him, while female Thor will probably come and go since how long can a female character masquerade under a male character's name, really? Especially if she's terminally ill (and Thor Odinson is still alive, unlike the Wolverine that Laura has replaced).

But that's just my opinion. ^_^

    Haven't you already asked this?

The truly valuable things are those that no one thinks will be valuable. Those things get underordered and are therefore rarer. Who could have predicted Edge of Spider-Verse #2 would be so sought after? And if it WERE that easy to forecast, they would have printed more and you'd still be able to get it at cover price.

My advice is to buy something you'll enjoy reading, but I get the feeling you'll get mad at me for suggesting that.

You should get books that interest you because of the story, art and concept, not because of their "importance". Few books are actually important and those that are not usually very good (i.e event comics).
