So how would you rate each movie in the series.

I do not do arnakining 1-whatever. I just vocieopininos on merits and flaws.

Japanese Godzilla Movies.

1.Godzilla (1954) Perfect. As it is the original and aside a good movie about something as scary as something you cannot kill on a city level. It is a great "No nukes" film as well.
2.Godzilla Raids Again. Pretty shitty actually. It was made rushed, looks rushed, and just blargh.
3.King Kong vs. Godzilla. Cheesy goodiness over all. Though Kong wins, it is worth checking out.
4.Mothra vs. Godzilla. I liked this one. As Godzilla was still a bad guy, but showed humans were bad too.
5.Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster. Shows KG was a bad ass monster among bad ass monsters, as it took 3 Kaiju to fight him.
6.Invasion of Astro-Monster. Felt recycled as KG was bad guy again and made him less bad ass. And the stupid Godzilla happy dance.
7.Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. Out of all the SHowa, i hate this movie. I HATE it. It was met to be King Kong, but Toho lost rights. Made no sense!
8.Son of Godzilla. Shows a more tender side to Godzilla and fighting big bugs
9.Destroy All Monsters. My fav of the SHowa. As it has them all in it. ALL except Kong.
10.All Monsters Attack. The WORST JAPANESE GODZILLA MOVIE!!!! IT IS A KID PRETENDING TO BE FRIENDS WITH GODZILLA'S SON!! My eyes!! They burn!!
11.Godzilla vs. Hedorah. It was like a acid trip.
12.Godzilla vs. Gigan. Yay King Ghidorah is back and Gigan looked bad ass.
13.Godzilla vs. Megalon. Pretty bad, in a bad way.
14.Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. Rule of cool. A evil space robot version of our hero.
15.Terror of Mechagodzilla. Last showa movie. Not as bad ass as first time as MG double teamed Godzilla and still lost.
16.The Return of Godzilla. The first Heisei movie, and it showed Godzilla could be scary again, and it worked.
17.Godzilla vs. Biollante. Funny this movie was made plot wise by a Dentist who submitted it in and won. i thought it was great.
18.Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. It showed the multiple Godzilla theory was alive and well, and that TIme Travel ultimately is futile to advert things. Godzilla got a power up and KG was a bitch.
19.Godzilla vs. Mothra. Awesome for it had a bad ass evil Mothra thing.
20.Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II. Mecha Godzilla, man made but a threat who almost defeated Godzilla, if not for Rodan.
21.Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla. A Godzilla clone via cosmic energy, interesting idea, lame in doing.
22.Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. I loved this movie, and it was so damn sad in that Godzilla actually dies. THe music, and seeing the big guy in visible pain. Just yeah, Good thing Jr got better.
23.Godzilla 2000: Millennium. SO cheesy, but so right. Defeated the memory of that 98 abomination listed below.
24.Godzilla vs. Megaguirus. It was, weird. Interesting, but weird.
25.Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. Oh Hell. The most evil version of Godzilla. Ever, so damn creepy.
26.Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. This Mechagodizlla was pretty damn cool, with a hot pilot.
27.Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. Repeat above, Mothra thrown in mix, and ends in a pseudo tie deal.
28.Godzilla: Final Wars. It is Destroy all Monsters all over again, and it's awesome!

American Godzilla Movies.

Godzilla (1998 Movie) This shall never be spoken of again. It was awful, so god awful Toho bought the rights to that monster sn discredited as a Godzilla.
Godzilla (2014 Movie) honestly pretty damn good to me. Sure the humans were bad, but Godzilla himself seemed like a unstoppable force of nature, which is what he should be. And was only in danger once, due to having smart monster enemies. Aside that? He got smart,and killed them big time.

Yup, I tend to prefer the classic, '50s through '70s films superior. The exact opposite is true of Godzilla's corporate rival, Gamera. I'm lukewarm on his classic films, but have really enjoyed all four of the modern Gamera films made in the last 20 years.

Also, I still enjoy ones that are quite low on the list. Even the ones I dislike the most tend to have something about them I like, like the underwater Godzilla vs. Battra fight in the movie I ranked last.

I did not care for the American ones but the vs King Kong one.


My faves are any of the ones were Mothera or Ghidorah turn up.

I even like Godzookie.

1-The original. An important piece of cinema history with the quality to match. The special effects have aged better than the entire rest of the showa series.
2-Godzilla vs. Destroyah. Great villain design. Good human characters. And a story with some weight.
3-GMK. For good old fashioned popcorn entertainment this is as good as it gets
4-Godzilla 2014. The best cinematography in the franchise
5-Godzilla vs Biolante. My favortie Gidzilla design and Biolante was the stuff of nightmares. The specual effects have aged better than any other Japanese Godzilla movie.
6-Godzilla 84/85. A good return to form, but has aged in the past 30 years.
7-Godzilla vs King Ghidorah-a very 90s movie, but in a good way
8-Godzilla 2000. A perfectly timed film with some great corn
9-Godzilla vs Mothra. It's good, but I don't care for it the way other people do.
10-Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. I hate that suit, but the movie is still cool.

Beyond that would take way too much thought. I'm just gonna say that Godzilla's Revenge is the worst one, even worse than the '98 giant iguana flick.

I really enjoy that one. It's a film for little kids, sure, but I think a pretty smart one. The stock footage is the only thing really holding it back for me.

"Just feeling lonely 'cause I got no friends" always cracks me up.

I try to respect other people's opinions... but, but how can several of ya have Mothra vs. Godzilla so low on your lists? Probably the coolest visual effects of classic series (maybe of the entire series), interesting and distinct fight scenes, perhaps the best Godzilla costume ever, great music, Mothra is awesome (unlike the generic plush toy they turned her into later on), great cast with some of the best actors of the whole series, clever ending.... It's a perfect movie!

And speaking of Mothra; the original, 1960 solo Mothra movie is probably my favorite kaiju film of all time. It's great.
