Damn nice haul. How much was the cap commission? And for those of you who own a lot of original art pages do you display all of them?

I think Steranko charged $400 for the small Cap pen and ink drawings, but I bought it from the guy who commissioned it, so I paid almost double that.
And thanks for the compliments! I'm quite proud of the new stuff I've picked up. Right now, I'm paying off one that really is what I could call a "grail".

here are the three pieces i have right now. don't have any plans for any new purchases. from left to right: norm rapmund's inks on a scanned page of jeff johnson's pencils from all-star western 26, ethan van sciver from batman: the dark knight 21, and rafael albuquerque from animal 24 or 25, can't exactly remember.

That Totleben Swamp Thing cover is beautiful to see in person. I love all of John's Swamp Thing covers. He really seemed inspired. I want another, but, doggone it, they are super expensive.

Awesome framed art. I have a few framed pieces: the Luis Dominguez cover to Weird Western Tales 25 featuring Jonah Hex, the Carmine Infantino Flash 323 cover featuring Flash vs. Reverse Flash and the start of the Trial of the Flash, Saga of the Swamp Thing 3 by Thomas Yeates featuring Swamp Thing battling the vampires that featured so prominently in Alan Moore's run, the Vincente Segrelles painted cover to Creepy 44 and a painted Spectre cover by Joe Phillips from John Ostrander's classic run.
I like the Jonah Hex page. What are your thoughts on owning published inks over xeroxed pencils? I have a great Batgirl splash that was inked by Jonathan Glapion over Daniel Sampere's computer blue line pencils. I like it, but I have some issues with it being only PART of the art.

here's a closer up pic of the jonah hex page, i just think it's such a classic hex page. i don't mind having just the finished inks, i still think it's cool that it's what was used for publishing. it only being $25 was nice too...

I walked into a local comic shop to see some friends of mine and when I went to the counter to buy a few comics, and looked up and there the Creepy cover was, already framed and hanging on their wall. It had been there for awhile, too, because it had dust on it. I asked if it was the real deal and they assured me it was and then I asked if it was for sale. They threw out a price that they thought I'd never pay and I haggled to get it down a bit and bought it when we agreed on a more reasonable price.
I've owned it for about a year now. It's an amazing piece. I bought it to use as trade, but when I got it up on the wall, it looked awesome and I just couldn't part with it.
Thanks for the compliment on it!

I can appreciate the fact that it is the PUBLISHED artwork.
    I own this "mechanical" cover:
    http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryp...?piece=1158415
It is THE published cover, featuring added artwork by a Marvel staffer in the margin areas of the cover. There is NO John Byrne art on it, because all of his art is done using stats.
I'm extremely happy with it and I intend to get it framed. I will probably never be able to afford the real John Byrne original art cover, but this is definitely the published cover.

Dear God how big is the cap commission? 400 seems way too steep to me for something like that. Biggest thing I've bought is 24x19 and it was 700.

The Cap commission is 5.25x9-inch image on a 7x10.5-inch piece of art board. I hate to tell you, but Steranko art doesn't come up for sale that often and is very expensive. He doesn't open his commission list up very often and his commissions aren't cheap. I paid $700 for the Cap, which is pretty reasonable for a penciled and fully-inked drawing. My larger pencils-only commission cost more than twice that.
What do you think some of these pages I've posted cost? They aren't cheap and each of them (but the Steranko Cap) are more than $4000 in value. Each. Great art doesn't come cheap.

Oh yeah ill be fine paying in the 4k range for original art. I never realized how much commissions could be. Hopefully I'll be able to get the original art I want one day.

Amazing deal! It's a cracking page. Couldn't ask for a more iconic Jonah image than that second panel!
