Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars Question

I've read the first issue of Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars and I've enjoyed it tremendously. I was wondering if Marvel granted you free reign in terms of tinkering with 1984's Secret Wars any way you see fit or if there were certain elements of the original storyline that were off-limits to you.
