Default Groupess Chat With Nancy Collins: My Vampirella Chat/O&A With Her.

So Groupess.com recently had a Dynamite bundle for sale, it was really cool. They also got Nancy Collins to chat on the site in a group chat about anything, including Vampirella.

I was able to ask her a few questions about the Vampirella series and chat about current stuff, past stuff and how she loves Vampirella.

I took some screenshots to share with you guys, they will be posted as a link under each question.

Hope you enjoy it, like I enjoyed chatting with her! She is really wonderful.

Dylan Davison(me): I have a quick question, if thats ok. Do you have a set plan for how long you will be doing Vampirella? You have been an amazing writer for her.

Nancy Collins: I don't have a plan/contract for how long I'll be writing Vampi. Dynamite seems happy with what I'm doing re the character. I have a miniseries/cross over that ties into their Swords of Sorrow that starts this month, that features Vampirella & Jennifer Blood who is a female Punisher-type published by Dynamite. And I have a couple of other Vampirella-related crossovers in the works that I'm not at liberty to discuss right now.

DD: Thanks for answering I am excited for that too, I love Vampirella crossovers. And I just picked up issue 1 for Vultures Circle. Will the main Vampirella series be taking a break while Swords of Sorrow is going?

NC: That's the plan. The Swords of Sorrow Event is a seriously huge undertaking, as it involves every major female character in the Dynamite Universe. We're talking at least a dozen characters.

NC: I have been having fun writing Vampirella for Dynamite, as they have given me a great deal of latitude re the character and have allowed me to expand her world.

Lindsay (Groupess Mod):Freedom is always good.

NC: To my knowledge, I am the first woman to write for Vampirella during her 45 year history.

DD: This is the first time I have had her on my pull list and it is the comic book I really look forward to every month, has been since #1.

NC: Glad you like it. Comic fandom needs to embrace its goofy past more than it does. Dynamite told me the only thing they were interest in was good/strong storytelling. So I rolled up my sleeves and dove right in. There will be some changes to Vampirella's character in the coming months, both physically and personally, that, I hope will appeal to her fans.

DD:Agreed. Loved the return of Draculina in Feary Tales and in Vampirella.
    http://i59.tinypic.com/des7m8.png

NC: I always thought Draculina was horribly underutilized. I read the Warren mags as a teen, and I've tried to incorporate elements of that world, and the 'feel' I associated with it, into my run. Hence the return of Draculina and the reboot of Madame Evily, Tristan and Metifa.

DD: Its a interesting dynamic for Vampirella's character to have a sister like Draculina. Changes physically? Like a new costume?

DD: I have been loving Evily, she could have her own comic she is so awesome.

NC (talking about the changes): I'm not at liberty to say at this point -- but you'll see some of what I'm talking about in the 2015 Vampirella Annual. (It's not scheduled yet, as I just turned it in last week.) I'm getting a kick out of writing Evily. Patrick Berkenkotter's interpretation of her is fantastic.

DD: Sweet, well I can't wait for that then! I am sure whatever it is, it will be great.

I did not screenshot it, but I thanked her for answering all these questions and for the chat. It was really cool to chat with her. I also asked her about San Diego Comic Con, but she will not be coming this year. I hope she comes next year.

Her run on Vampriella has been amazing. I love supernatural kind of stories, and she does a great job and exploring that, and the "hero" side of Vampirella.

I am glad Groupess did this, it was amazing of them!

What do you guys think of her run? Same feelings? Different? Did you find anything about this chat exciting or cool? Lets discuss. And thanks for taking the time to read this.
