Question Which gay or lesbian character should get a solo on-going post-SECRET WARS?

Marvel has NEVER had a gay on-going solo series.
Marvel has NEVER had a lesbian on-going solo.
It's both laughable and absurd, especially considering it's 2015. With so much promotion of diversity, surely they aren't going to ignore this very obvious failure when it comes to minority representation (esp. when DC is producing Batwoman and Midnighter as on-going solo stars). So I created a poll to ask: who would be the best on-going gay or lesbian solo star? Now of course I'm limited to 15 spaces, so I couldn't include everyone. I couldn't decide about including Wiccan/Hulkling separate or together. I decided together, because whether it's a Wiccan solo series or a Hulkling solo series; it will include the other as a major supporting cast member.

Apologies if I left out your favourite.
"We are Shakespeare. We are Michelangelo. We are Tchaikovsky. We are Turing. We are Mercury. We are Wilde. We are Lincoln, Lorca, Leonardo da Vinci. We are Alexander the Great. We are Fredrick the Great. We are Rustin. We are Addams. We are Marsha! Marsha Marsha Marsha! We so generous, we DeGeneres. We are Ziggy Stardust hooked to the silver screen. Controversially we are Malcolm X. We are Plato. We are Aristotle. We are RuPaul, god dammit! And yes, we are Woolf."

I like Karma, Northstar and Morph but LOLOL not happening.

I would so read a Miss America Chavez solo tbh.

I'd love to see a Wiccan/Hulkling series and a team of young X-Men led by Anole but I think Miss America has the best chance of having her own series, and isn't there a rumour that she is going to get her own series?

I voted for WICCAN / HULKLING to the surprise of no-one. LOL. They are my favourite couple ever, they have a lot of fans, they are famous enough and currently the Avengers best bet for including LGBT people of significance in their promos. And they are just so awesome. Between the world of magic (untapped) and the world of space (so much Kree and Skrull goodness to use) the stories really could go anywhere. Plus they'd draw on a popular supporting cast/guest stars.

I could see Northstar (as the first openly LGBT character of mainstream comics) getting a solo, and I'd LOVE a Morph one (his power is awesome) but it's unlikely. That said, with the right writer, an espionage, infiltration comic, quirky or film noir could work for well for Morph. Boy Meets Worls meets Chinatown

I had to kick someone off the list, and alas I picked Cullen. I wanted to include more, damn that 15 limit.

It is a rumour so far, Marvel hasn't confirmed it. Fingers crossed. Our first EVER lesbian on-going solo series.

    Agreed on all counts.

LOVE IT!!! Worked so well for Hawkeyes.

I guess Iceman would have the most chance for success? He'd probably draw readers from a bigger pool of people than the rest. Long time Bobby fans, X fans, people interested in the latest development, people backing diversity....

I reckon Wiccan/Hulk would basically do YA numbers but even less as you would lose the people reading for Hawkeye, Loki etc.

The one I'd most like to see, and therefore less likely to happen, is Cullen Bloodstone. He's an absolute gem of a character.

    LOVE this idea.

Also, I disagree with the "these characters can't carry their own solo" argument, imo under the wing of a competent writer, most characters can get away with an interesting solo. Whether it sells or not is a different story. It could be a hit like Ms. Marvel or a good book with low sales like Magneto.

I voted for Northstar too, but most of the LGBT mutant characters really aren't equipped to handle a solo series, tbh. The over-crowded approach to team books over the past decade, the frequent changes in characterization from writer to writer, and spotlight that's largely absent save for when they're being used for headlines or PSAs means that most of them haven't had the focus needed to build up popularity.

But I'd sure as hell like to see someone give it a shot!

I think I mentioned it in another thread months ago, but I think a Northstar ongoing could be really groundbreaking with an informed and intelligent writer. You have a main character who's not only gay but married. He's part of the 616 but he operates from a place and culture that's not NY. He's a hero but he has a semi-shady past ( cheating to be a ski champ, ties to a separatist movement?). He's a mutant superhero but not caught up in the X-Men dramas.

It could be a chance to build a new type of superhero mythos

Northstar's not a personable guy, though, and that tends not to make for the most long-lasting lead. He's conceited, short-tempered, withdrawn...
Patsy Walker on TV! Patsy Walker in new comics! Patsy Walker in your brain! And Jessica Jones is the new Nancy! (Oh, and read the Comics Cube.)

Yeah, I'd love to see more of Cullen too. Personally I'd love to see Cullen become a morally-dubious anti-hero type of character, almost like a young, gay version of the Punisher.

EDIT: What? No Phyla Vell/Moondragon option?

That's an awesome pitch for a series!

HA! I am cruel; but I hate multiple choice (too many just pick everything, or close too). I find a "pick one" makes the true victor clearer.

You know, that is my fault; I thought they were bi. Apologies

    Good idea.

I WANT: Wiccan / Hulkling or Morph

    MOST LIKELY: Iceman or MAC

I'm not sure that's true; Wiccan is still dominating the LGBT favourite character poll (created post-MAC in Young Avengers). In the last 6 months he's stayed the undisputed champ, which wouldn't happen if everyone was fleeing to MAC
