Personally, I prefer costumes that you can draw in five minutes. Imagine artists at conventions trying to execute some of these designs for fans who have paid for the service, while a long queue of more fans waits to get their commission jobs.

I think all of these costumes should be modeled by someone in the flesh. If it doesn't pass the laugh test, then it should be deep sixed.

Back in the 1970s, I actually had a 8-inch action figure of Catwoman in this costume (tail and all). I thought it was ugly back then and I still think so. Great choice.

Frank Robbins was probably inspired by Black Cat.

And while it's not a favourite of mine, I think that Catwoman design suits Frank Robbins' art style. It shouldn't be prettied up with smooth colour shading. It should look messy with ink the way Robbins illoed his figures. Unfortunately, Robbins' own illustration was never used (other than on the back cover of AMAZING WORLD OF DC COMICS).

Most 1980s and '90s costume " upgrades " are especially horrendous, but the late '60s-early '70s Catwoman pixie dom' outfit and hairstyle was particularly unattractive.

Whole thread could be anything from the Injustice franchise, but for some notable ones to shine a spotlight of shame on:

I like my male superheroes to show some flesh but this was just weird.

You’re judging it by our 21st century standards. We don’t know what fashion will look like in the 30th century.

I have to judge by 21st century standards. I have no other standards.

The Mike Grell Cosmic Boy costume is the gooniest costume DC has ever published.

Exactly. What works in a video game or live action doesn't usually work in a comic. My philosophy is the simpler the better.
