When is a thread closed?

So, I'm relatively new here and I recently checked on one of my thread only to find it closed. I'm just wondering when and why a thread is closed? Thanks.

We close threads for a variety of reasons.

Yours was closed because the question you presented was answered and then the topic itself drifted into ground that is better suited for, and already covered by, another thread.
