I'm glad to see the Inhumans finally become major players in the Marvel Universe. Just one question, though. Where is Crystal?

Its still a bit early to tell... much of the Royal Family has not featured beyond Medusa. Karnak's... gone. Black Bolt's missing. Maximus is with the New Avengers it seems. The rest haven't been seen yet so that might change soon. But I would really like Crystal to get a good and consistent role. Maybe with this scattering of the Inhumans she might be able to step up into a nice post instead of being Medusa's little sister who helps on occasion.

Sorry, newb new to comics here; what's the deal with the Inhumans? I'm reading Ms. Marvel, an I gues she's an Inhuman? Is this a very old series/concept?

Quite old, they were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby where they first featured in Fantastic Four. At the moment, there is a big push by Marvel to promoting these guys as they had a presence in the past but kind of went back into the sidelines again and again.

Essentially, they are a splinter sub-species of mankind created by the alien Kree for use as biological living weapons but were abandoned. After that, they lived an isolationist existence and remained in hiding where they were led by a Royal Family headed by King Black Bolt. They are kind of different then Mutants as their transformation is determined by exposure to a substance called Terrigenesis Mist that gives the formerly human looking Inhuman with strange forms and powers. Its revealed in the pages of Infinity that the Inhuman's suffered a splintering where their people divided into numerous tribes with some of these interbreeding with regular humans and creating more of their kind.

After the events of Infinity, the Terrigenesis Bomb unleashed by Black Bolt has been released globally and is turning those with Inhuman ancestry into full fledged Inhumans. So, the new Ms. Marvel is one of those with an Inhuman ancestor and her powers have just become activated.

Default Rise of Attilan - The Inhumans Appreciation

Inhumans as a whole is a concept I have really enjoyed in the past and hope to see it become as popular as the guardians. I think the property is strong enough to do so on it's own merits, and not at the expense of the X Universe.

I am hoping this thread can become a place people can discuss the characters and direction of the new monthly!

So, who is your favorite Inhuman? Mine is Blacbolt followed by Medusa

Thanks for starting this thread. I think if Marvel ever gets their act together and starts publishing the Inhumans title on a monthly basis, we should see a good amount of fans posting here. Who is my favorite Inhuman? I suppose it is pretty much a tie between Crystal and Medusa.

I'm down. Love the Inhumans, think Inhuman still has a lot of promise for it's rocky start. My favorite WAS Karnak, but I do understand the sacrifice. Fraction/Soule pulled a good move by making the book have a very uncertain edge without Bolt or the strategist Karnak.

Love Maximus, one of my favorite villains; so perfectly done in the Marvel mold. Love the kids, Ahura and Luna. Alaris from Sean Mckeever's run. Liking Dante, lots of potential for him. Think the Unspoken is a great character too, good to see him being used again.

    Default Inhumans & Nuhuman Appreciation

    Origins

The Inhumans are a race of beings who diverged from mainstream humanity 25000 thousands years ago as a results of genetic experimentation performed on primitive man by the alien Kree at the Kree-built Blue City on the moon. After succeeding in creating this genetically advanced human beings they abandoned them. The Inhumans began developing their own technology and culture and among their chief scientific disciplines was genetics. Their government is based on Genocracy.

    Past Leaders

Randac was the inhuman geneticist that isolated a chemical catalyst for human mutation - a substance he called Terrigen. Believing the substance to be the key to making great genetic advances he subjected himself to a total immersion in the Terrigen Mist and emerged with mental manipulative powers and was elected to ruler due to his superior powers. He then instituted a program by which every Inhuman could undergo Terrigen treatment if they desired. Centuries later, an Inhuman leader named Gral tired of the discrimination against the non-human looking minority instituted a reign of terror in which the entire population of Attillan was involuntary subjected to the mutagenic Terrigen Mist which transformed three quarters of the population into non-humanoid types and changed their DNA for untold generations and put an end to the segregation of non-humanoids into Mutation Camps.

    Current Leaders
Blackagar also known as King Black Bolt son to two geneticists parents who subjected him to Terrigen Mist in utero

Medusalith Amaquelin also known as Queen Medusa daughter to two nutritionists (In her biography it is stated that Medusa frequently visited BB's isolation cell and learned to communicate with him in a special sign language.)

The Inhuman Royal family includes Maximus, Crystal, Gorgon, Karnak(dead),Triton and Lockjaw.

The Nuhumans are humans who have Inhuman DNA and undergo transformation when exposed to the Terrigen mist released by BB and since they are popping up on every issue I will let you guys choose who are your favorites. Everything Inhumans & Nuhuman are one of my favorite things about Marvel right now so let us discuss them

And of course, we can't forget Kamala Khan, the newest and one of the best Inhumans to grace the MU in a long time.
She is Kamala Khan... The Magnificent Ms. Marvel!

    Lockjaw FTW!!!!!
We are the Dora Milaje. We are the daughters of the 18 tribes of Wakanda. We are the teeth of the Panther God. Out of 10,000 years of sweat and bloodshed and battle are we born. We are the women of this ancient land. Deadliest of the species. And our time has come!
