Hotels wanting to charge more money is going to be a big problem for a lot of conventions. Dragon*Con, every Labor Day in Atlanta, has five host hotels. Outside hotels, even no-frills ones, routinely charge $300+ a night during the con. I'm sure the host hotels are counting the days until they can negotiate higher rates. Right now, the convention rate is about $220 a night. The Motel 6 roach coach hotel charges more than that during the con.
