point is the Confederate flag means different things to different people you look at it and its a racist symbol others see it as southern pride its all subjective to opinion to me at the end of the day its just a flag.

Even a cursory look at the Confederate constitution and other documents like the Texas Declaration of Secession will tell you exactly what the Confederate flag stood for; the defense of the South's practice of human bondage and trafficking. Claiming anything else is taking a position of blatant and willful ignorance.

Texas abandoned her separate national existence and consented to become one of the Confederated States to promote her welfare, insure domestic tranquility [sic] and secure more substantially the blessings of peace and liberty to her people. Not sure about him, but my family roots are from Northeastern Arkansas. My grandparents were great people, but they lived in a scary place.

yes it WAS what the Confederate flag stood for back in the civil war today the flag means different things to different people just like a lot of other flags and you have to admit the stars and bars is a beautiful looking flag.

Considering that much of the resurgence of the Confederate flag popping back up on state buildings happened during the civil rights movement I'm going to disagree.

Seceding from the Union and forming their own country for the sole practice of protecting the slave trade? Yeah they did. They were known as the Confederacy.

your right on the civil rights part but what im trying to say is not all ppl see the Confederate flag as a racist symbol its true a lot use it as one but its allso true a lot do not.

It's disingenuous at best to compare Southerners living in the heart of the states that make up the former Confederacy to Asians living a continent and a half away from Nazi Germany.
