Yeah, Land's porn pics are simply awful! I just can't stand them. I really was interested to read Bunn's Magneto with a team but combination of Land on art and Fantomex in the cast is just too much for me. Sorry Bunn! I did like your UC: Wolverine mini and have only heard great things about Magneto solo so I'm gonna try catching up on that one instead. MAYBE if Land ever gets rotated off this book I might check it out...

i will say that he has been better about the porn faces lately. his run on Iron Man had fewer porn-tastic faces.

Well that's nice to hear. Good for him!

Though the porn faces are only the most obvious of issues with his art another, and even more deciding, is the lack of cohesion and story flow.

That's what I've heard. It's a damn shame and makes his use of poor (porn) tracing even more frustrating when you know that he can actually draw if he wants to!

But look at the artistry! The magnificence! The elegance of Pixie's definitely not pornstar face and the other two girls who has the same pose as her (I bet Arachne, if that's Arachne, has her mouth wide open as well under that mask ready to have a d!ck shoved in it). Also, Pixie's, at least, sixteen at the time this is drawn, Greg Land you perv.

That's actually Ultimate Jessica Drew/Julia Carpenter Spider-woman who, as a clone of Peter Parker, I'm sure was also around his age at the time so, it's another 16 yo there!
And you're right Pixie was probably around 14-16 at the time that cover was published. And wasn't Ultimate Scarlet Witch also a teenager and around Ultimate X-Men's age in Ultimate comics? I don't know, she might have been 18-19 but Land got at least 2/3 so points for that!

Greg Land sure love those money shot faces on women (and underage women). It should be noted that I am indifferent when it comes to Greg Land's art but I sure love poking fun at it. lol

Not a fan, but he's not really known for sticking on a book for a long time. 6-8 issues max he's gone. Don't worry about it.

I'm not sure if I've read anything he's drawn (or, if I have, then I didn't find it immediately off-putting). In general, I'm of the view that, while bad art in a comic can damage a story, it takes truly terrible art to ruin a story. I'm not sure I've come across a story that's been ruined by bad art, only "negatively affected".

Follow-up: I just read his bibliography on Wikipedia and I have read a few things there (like Ultimate Fantastic Four, the Pixie FCBD book, Uncanny X-Men, and Phoenix Endsong). I'm not sure any of those were obviously terrible in my opinion (but everyone has different tastes). I didn't like Phoenix Endsong, but that's for story reasons, not art.

I don't know what any of you are talking about:

Greg Land's work is original and rich in its artistic expression!!!!

His Phoenix: Endsong was actually very well, drawn his later works leave much to be desired!
