Sam Nova is finally making sense under Duggan...but I'd rather have a corps book with a larger cast and see Sam as Kid Nova in New Warriors..
Rich could have the Corps book and Sam could keep the Nova title.
Seems like a win-win IMO.
Rich leading the Nova Corps
Sam coming into his own and being a Nova all his own.
There's also no need to call him Kid Nova since it's a Corps.
That just seems like a silly way to appease the people who go for the one true Nova thing.
Never said otherwise.
And borrowing? Really?
He's essentially a torch bearer.
Like Kyle Rayner was in Green Lantern for a decade.
He's keeping the flame alive, he's not keeping the seat warm.
I get that you prefer Rich, as do I... but I also like Sam.
Like it or not he is a Nova.
There's no need to diminish him because you might favor someone else.
It's pretty messed up to those who love Sam.
There's room for more than one Nova.
I'm not diminishing him at all. But I would not call him a member of a corps when he doesn't even know what that means. I'm sure that in this upcoming arc that he will discover what it is exactly to be a member of the corps. Then I would say that he is a torch bearer. That's why I say that he is borrowing it. I have nothing against the character at all, besides him being a little annoying under Loeb and Wells, and I think that I can come to love him. But as of now I don't see him as that bearer.
Yes he uses the name Nova but he's not a member of the Corps. Back in the day Rich was the last Nova but he was still inducted into the corps by Rhomann Dey and given the full authority of a Nova Centurion, while Sam is using unauthorized equipment that was stolen by a deserter.
These guys might disagree with that assessment. They may be depowered but they have gone through basic training and have been inducted into the corps given the full authority by the Nova Prime and the World Mind the authority of a Nova
If your a force sensitive and you find a lightsaber on the corpse of a dead Jedi, does that make Jedi?
What authority do the New Warriors, Avengers, and Guardians have to who or who is not a Nova they don't know anything and the ones who do have gone mute and just accept Sam as he looks an not what he is. I consider Sam a member of the Corps(look at the first page) because hopefully, sooner or later he'll actual be inducted as Earths Nova, but in the Marvel Universe he's not a Nova. He's a superhero who illegally uses the stolen equipment and the Name of a Nova.
