I really hope that if they do bring Rich back, they don't mess him up or kill his family. I think he is the only Marvel superhero with two living parents. DC had Barry and Wally as characters that weren't motivated by death, but those origins were dumped on as of Barry's new origin and the Wally West massacre.

Richard Rider is one of the very, very, very! Few character whose father is (1.Alive (2.Not Evil or a Superhero (3.A crazy jerk who puts himself above his child (4.abusive or a deadbeat. I think the Rider family is such a huge part of Richards character so much so that you could never kill of his parents or brother or change his origin because that would destroy the entire core concept of the character. He's maybe the only Everyman character who is actually an everyman. God I hate that stupid new Barry Allen Origin. Don't get me started on Wally! I do think an orphaned, poor, street kid Nova could work, sense it would follow the general theme of what Novas about(A know one from know were who gets the chance to become a star metaphorical and physically)but that's not Richard. It would be a good setup for Richards legacy and it would be a lot better of an origin then Sam's shitty origin that has nothing to do with what Novas about.

I think that's his dad based on what the solicitation says. Or just an artist goof.

EDIT: It's probably just an artist goof, because I think the one in the background is meant to be his dad.

I noticed that too, and he looks really cool there because of it.

There has been some variety in how old sam's looked throughout the run. Just look at the initial Quesada art, AvX, etc..he looked like a grown up as opposed to a 15 year old Mcguiness and medina have had him depicted in a younger style.

Jesse is there as well..most likely him.
