Art Thibert inked sketch of Hawkman:

Hawkman: You want him dead or alive?

I want to say I've seen Art Thibert draw Hawkman before if not that piece. He's one of my favorite inkers so that's really cool to me.
I love the "beak" of the helmet in that piece. Most artists either make it too pronounced or not pronounced enough. Thibert's is perfect, though; pronounced enough to distinguish it from the nose-guard of most cowls, but still small enough that it doesn't appear goofy.

Cover for Hawkman #2 I like that his costume has a few tweaks and embellishments but it's still close to a classic, recognizable Hawkman look (and nowhere near as overdesigned as that new 52 nightmare!)
I like the motif. Wonder if the wraps are just a head-nod to a mummy reference in the issue or if Carter will actually start wrapping his fists. I hope it's the latter, because as others have mentioned, his bare hands make the overall design feel a bit drab. Just adding something like wraps, cuffs, or simple gauntlets would do wonders, I think.
Either way, I'd rather the costume be underdone than overly busy, so it's still a win in my book. I'm anxious to see some interiors now.

I just realized that Carter has only had one series so far out of Hawkman's multiple series and this will be his second.
While all the rest of Hawkman's series have been Katar. His first in the 60's, second in the 80's, Hawkworld and even new 52.
Kinda funny.
Imagine being proud to have negative traits. I can’t relate.

Solicitation copy to go with the cover to issue #2 now:
Venditti is wasting no time in taking advantage of the deep, multifaceted history of the character, I see. This sounds exactly what I've been wanting from a Hawkman ongoing! Can't wait!HAWKMAN #2
