    Default What happened to Bane?

Did Bane have any good stories in the comics after his movie came out? What can I read?

DC didn't use Bane much after DKR came out
Very good series Arkham War came out during the Forever Evil event though and it is all about how badass Bane is and is a true return to form for the character after a series ill conceived turns for the character in other books post knightfall.

Maybe check out a couple issues of the Talon series too

Or it was, until Batman rocks up in the last issue and beats him by punching him a lot. Without breaking a sweat.

That's probably a better call. Never really took off as a series, Talon, but it did have good Bane.

True, true. Gotham reverted back to status quo in like five seconds. Which I guess speaks to Gothamites, toughness, and shaking off supervillain takeovers. Because a year later, and Central City is still a trainwreck because of Forever Evil. But Gotham's like "Yeah, we've had five building-shattering crises since then."

The best New 52 Bane is without any question Pete Tomasi & Graham Nolan's villain's month "Bane # 1" one-shot. It effectively just merges straight up 90s Knightfall height-era Bane with Dark Knight Rises Bane. He's not a lumbering Hulk-like figure with gross inhuman muscles like a videogame character. He's brutal. He's efficient. He's paramilitary. And all the evidence you need of him being juiced up comes from his ample body hair.
Retro315 no more. Anonymity is so 2005.

Honestly, the only good Bane stories are from before DKR.

Batman: Vengeance of Bane: This issue tells Bane's origin story.

Knightfall: This is the story arc for which Bane is most well known. It tells the tale of how Bane broke the Bat.

Batman: Vengeance of Bane II: The Redemption: Imprisoned again following his defeat at the hands of Azrael, Bane must rehabilitate and redeem himself.

Batman: Bane of the Demon: In his journey to find his father, Bane crosses paths with Talia Al Ghul and her father's League of Assassins.

Legacy: Bane fights against Batman again while he works in the service of Ra's Al Ghul.

Batman: Bane: Escaping capture after being defeated by Batman during the Legacy story arc by being drifted out to sea, Bane hijacks a nuclear-powered ship and threatens to use it to destroy Gotham City by blowing it up in Gotham Harbor.

No Man's Land: Bane is hired by Lex Luthor as his bodyguard.

Batman: Gotham Knights #33-36 (Tabula Rasa): Bane reunites with Batman and company, but this time they're not on opposing sides.

Batman: Gotham Knights #46-49 (Veritas Liberat): Bane finally finds his father. He is faced with an ethical dilemma: will he follow his father down an evil path or continue on his path of redemption?

While Bane's recent showings havent been perfect I'm just glad he's back to being portrayed as a tactical genius and not just a Venom fueled Hulk. He's been shown to be leading his own army of mercenaries which is an improvement over his post-Knightfall self who had apparently forgotten that he could match wits with Batman.
