What are your current top 3 Image runs, currently?

Whereas I have no idea what people see in that book. It's (mostly, I guess) competently made and all, but yuck!

Why yuck?

My problem with Lazarus is the whiff of anti-science paranoia I detect in the letters pages and back matter. Predictably the book brought out the anti-corporate, this-could-really-happen crowd but I was disappointed to see Rucka kind of engaging in this line of thought as well. The truth is that the dystopia of Lazarus could never happen, for a bunch of reasons (that should probably be discussed in another thread, if people are interested).

I think it's a fun story with some great characters and I enjoy reading it, but it's also as preposterous as, say, Saga.

I know my third choice is surprising but man, I love that book. Such a slow burn with some great characters and writing.

I'm curious to see what ,in like 5 years, we'll look back on as the definitive timeless books of this period in image comics.

That's an interesting idea. Of the books coming out now, I can see East of West, Saga, Lazarus, The Walking Dead, and Invincible being thought of as timeless stories that even future generations will want to read. Sex Criminals and Southern Bastards may have a shot at timeless greats as well.

Saga maybe. Definitely TWD. Just on sheer numbers alone. The rest? I kind of doubt it. Southern Bastards maybe, but do people think of Scalped that way? Because if Scalped isn't thought of that way, I don't know that SB will be. They're kind of same cloth books in a lot of ways. Both deserve far more recognition than they get, though.

Just based upon what I'm eager to read each month:

by far Velvet is the most consistent series on image right now
East of West is decent but slightly tired and predictable
Black Science started strong but petered out for me and i stopped after issue 12
Low was terrible and I stopped after issue 6 ( if you're wondering why i keep buying remender it's partly due to the great artists he pairs with)
Wolf was a huge let down, terrible characters and story telling ( I had super high hopes for this because Dead Drop was so good)
Head Lopper is pure genius but it's a quarterly
We stand on Guard was very mediocre like a bad syfy channel movie
The Dead and the Dying has a lot of promise
Nameless was pretty good
Supreme Blue Rose...warren ellis doing grant morrison...but the art was amazing....
Lazarus is good but not great
The Fade Out is surprisingly great
Descender is just too stereotypical and some bad story telling
Drifter started great but again I got lost after issue 2, the art was excellent though

East of West is great. Lazarus is stellar. Nameless is typical Grant Morrison wankery.

I think these three titles are probably the best runs in terms of longevity & consistency but while they are good they're not my favorite.

Can't do it.

Chew - Great fun, original concept.
The Fade Out - incredible noir, amazing book that does not let down one minute, even gives background.
Black Science - Great Remender sci-fi stuff, can't be beat in the genre right now.
Stray Bullets - great, messed up stories! Lapham been doing his thing since b4 Image was even around.
Casanova - amazing title, another, can't be beat. Creators at their best!

If you love classic Morrison and his recurring themes (The Invisibles, The Filth, Final Crisis and so forth) then you will love Nameless. I just hope he knows how to finish it. Morrison's biggest problem is sticking the landing, in my opinion.
