Barbara Gordon
Cassandra Cain
Stephanie Brown
Helena Bertinelli
Bette Kane
And now we're at:* Barbara Gordon = 66 votes (+ 4)
* Cassandra Cain = 58 votes (+ 7)
* Stephanie Brown = 36 votes (+ 3)
* Helena Bertinelli = 5 votes (no change)
* Bette (originally "Betty") Kane = 4 votes (+ 1)
Not bad for a thread that was started over three years ago.
I have multiple identities and wish to have all of them vote for Bette. That's 99. But I will give one to Barbara since I like her too.
I like them all, so I did eeny meeny miny moe, and ended up with Cass.
About two days later we've got:* Barbara Gordon = 68 votes (+ 2)
* Cassandra Cain = 58 votes (no change)
* Stephanie Brown = 39 votes (+ 3)
* Helena Bertinelli = 5 votes (still no change)
* Bette (originally "Betty") Kane = 5 votes (+ 1)
And, since I resurrected this old thread back on the 19th,* Barbara Gordon = 6 additional votes
* Cassandra Cain = 8 additional votes
* Stephanie Brown = 7 additional votes
* Helena Bertinelli = 1 additional vote
* Bette (originally "Betty") Kane = 2 additional votes
It makes she's that Babs and Cass lead the polls pretty handily; while Steph and Bette ar epopular, particularly the former, there's enough differe me between Cass and the rest that she's distinct from the more classic "spirited heroic female counterpart" archetype that Babs is the patron saint of for the Batfamily.
Cass has characteristics that contrast sharply with the other three, and part of the reason I like her more is because she seems more up my genre as an action-first character, with a deeply engaging unique situation regarding her personality, social skills, and viewpoint. Babs, Steoh, Bette, and even Helena, to some extent, can fit into a fairly mundane civilian life story. Cass doesn't; there's always that aspect of her being so different developmentally that there's some stories only she can do and some she would have a very unique approach to.
Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?
I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP
I suppose that is what make Cass a standout character that maybe deserves something different, escape the Bat-world? I'm not very familiar with her, other than recent Detective and maybe a couple of older stories.
She is drastically different from all the other Bat females.
Four days later:* Barbara Gordon = 73 votes (+ 5)
* Cassandra Cain = 61 votes (+ 3)
* Stephanie Brown = 42 votes (+ 3)
* Helena Bertinelli = 5 votes (still no change)
* Bette (originally "Betty") Kane = 5 votes (no change)
I've always like Babs but I enjoyed reading Steph a lot more. I haven't read Cassies solo so the verdict may still be out on this one.
The art style is certainly different, but designed for the expressiveness of the characters. And sometimes, the art style does change up, but overall, its about Cass and her journey as a burgeoning hero wanting to do her best.
Personally, I didn't come across any bad parts or stretches. Some parts tie into other comics, but that's a different topic.
Tiffany from the Telltale Batman games was pretty cool.
