Johns doesn't have a good track record with Batman. Earth One is all about his incompetent newb Batman and even that isn't good
I have full confidence in Affleck directing but if the script is crap there's no hope for the movie

This is an instance where Affleck's involvement is a huge positive. He's got a great track record as a director.

Geoff John's doesn't fill me with the most glee as I think Batman is the leaguer he gets the least, but he's a good writer all around so once I accept his vision is just WB's version of Batman I'll roll with it.

Aflek and Johns will write the script and then many other writers will get their hands on the script and rework/improve it. You don't need to be the best screen writer when you are the first writer of a new movie, you just need to have good ideas. Lots of people will get their hands on the script and massage it into something great.

He's at least written a lot of TV in terms of DC shows (JLU, Smallville, Arrow, Flash), but beyond involvement with the production I don't think he's ever had this much influence on the movies.

YES. After all these years with Batman taking Superman down a peg, getting put over him at every turn, now we have Johns doing a Batman movie.

With Affleck's track record on movies I will give him the benefit of doubt. I wonder if it will have the Bat family but I do hope they don't do another Under the Red Hood Movie because that story has been featured enough between the animated movie and Arkham Knight. If the spoiler is true from Batman v Superman then either Dick is dead, gonna show up in a bad way or I am completely wrong.

When I first got into comics Johns was my favorite writer and so I have a lot of hope for this.

Johns: "I'm co-writing the new Batman movie with Ben Affleck!"
Affleck: "Well... I wouldn't say co-writing..."
Johns: "We're co-writing!"

Geoff Johns doing a movie. That is awesome news. I also heard Affleck is very good at working behind the camera. This could possibly be the best Batman movie yet. Though I really hope they push the envelope a bit and go with a meta threat. Maybe Court of Owls. I don't need the same old Joker/Two-Face/etc thing. Though I have a bad feeling they'll make use of Leto's Joker as the main villain and while he might do a good job, I want to see something different.
