So if Johns is helping.. that means no Batgod, right?

It would be a miracle if he can count to 100.

    Johns' Batman is terrible dumb.

Now I'm kind of glad Dick is already dead for this.

Didn't Affleck once get in trouble for asking his masseuse to "massage it into something great"?

Or am I thinking of Mark Wahlberg?

In addition to writing it, Affleck will also star in it? You don't say. Hadn't heard he was playing Batman. Big news! ;P

Please show him as a detective detecting things. I'll go ahead with the Court of Owls thing a few people said. That could be decent and grounded and personal enough that it would be cool and have lots of action, but also have him actually being The Batman for once. I know the Red Hood thing has been done a few times now, but I wouldn't hate that, either. We haven't had a live action cinematic version of it and I'm sure they could twist it different and cool. Though... nah. I wouldn't hate the idea of it, but nevermind. It has been done and is also too similar to Winter Soldier. Court of Owls type thing could be cool.

Also agree that I would like to see some of the extended Bat family. There was a rumor of Carrie Kelley in BvS. If she's not there, I hope she's in the solo as the current Robin, as well as an Oracle, a Red Robin and a Batgirl. Nightwing, if Dick's not dead already.

Well this is...interesting. I enjoy Johns' comics, but his Batman hasn't always been great to put it lightly. And co-writing a script for a major motion picture is quite a leap. He's also consulting a lot with Patty Jenkins. Maybe he's just doing a general plot consultant job for the DCCU?

Affleck's involvement in the creative process is great news, but hardly surprising. Just confirming what a lot of us already suspected.

I don't think there was ever any question that having him take on a directorial role for one of the WB/DC franchises was always part of the deal to get him to play Batman.

I hope these new solo Batman movies take the approach of using the Nolan movies as "unofficial prequels" meaning those movies have shown people enough of how Batman fought by himself and in his younger days so this new series with an older Batman and the Bat family can hit the ground running and not need to retell everything.
I love the New 52. I love the dark and grittiness of it and find that is what makes the most enjoyable superhero stories. At the same time I find All Star Superman to be the most depressing Superman story I have ever read. Yeah I'm weird.

I hope these new solo Batman movies take the approach of not using the Nolan movies at all and pretending they don't exist, while still not feeling any need to explore his younger days or origin much.

I have confidence in Affleck as a director but Johns as a writer is a no-no. His TV work is extremely weak.

Ah, yes...more detection needed in Batman movies

Court of Owls would be awesome...meta threat + taking on an organization (and perhaps even 'introduce'/tease the Batfamily...just a few scenes with other Batcharacters fighting off Talons).
    DC Extended Universe Thread (DCEU)

That's how it starts. The fever. The rage. The feeling of powerlessness. That turns good men....Cruel - Alfred.

This may be the only thing that I do that matters - Bruce.

Stay down, if I wanted it, you would be dead already - Clark.

Great. An extra dose of bleak and dry for the new Batfilm.

Oh, yeah, it is. The Smallville episodes he wrote were hilariously bad.

And the last time Batman was a detective in live action was the 66 tv show..if you count him sounding out the Riddler's clues as detective work.
It really isn't a big deal for the live action version.
