Reign of the Supermen was fantastic - a culmination of years of storytelling by Stern, Jurgens, & Company. Had you been a fan of Superman a few years prior to RotS (as I was), you definitely felt rewarded.

My list of favorite Superman stories, in no real order:

    Reign of the Supermen
For the Man Who Has Everything
Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
    All Star Superman
    Red Son
What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way?
    Arkham/Emperor Joker
    Exile
    Time and Time Again
    Morrison's Action Comics Run
    Birthright
    Man of Steel
    Dark Knight Over Metropolis
    Kingdom Come
    Superman Vs. Aliens
    This Was Your Life

    Best Superman stories:

    All-Star Superman
    Kingdom Come
    Birthright
    For All Seasons
    Superman Adventures by Mark Millar
    Red Son
    Speeding Bullets
    Secret Identity
What's So Funny About Truth Justice and the American Way? (AC 775)

    Johns:
    Last Son
    Escape from Bizarro World
    Brainiac
Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes

    Superman, Miracle Monday (Maggin Novels)

    Good 80's/early 90's Superman:
    Superman vs Mongul
    Superman: Phantom Zone (Gerber/Kane)
Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
    Exile
    Eradication!
    Time and Time Again

    Superman Today:
    Morrison's Action run
    Pak's Action run
    Yang's run?

The best Superman stories, IMO, are the ones from around '58-66. Here are some great issues:
    Revolution in San Monte! (#AC #1-2, 6/38-7/38)
Superman vs Luthor (SM #4, 6/1940)
he Mysterious Mxy (SM #30, 11/1944)
    The Super-Duel in Space (AC #242, 7/1958)
The Boy of Steel Vs the Thing of Steel (SB #68, 10/58)
    The Girl in Superman’s Past (SM #129, 5/1959) (10)
    Superman’s Mermaid Sweetheart (SM #135, 2/1960)
    Superman’s Return to Krypton (SM #141, 11/60)
    Superboy’s Big Brother (SB #89, 6/1961)
The Last Days of Superman! (SM #156, 10/62)
The Super-Revenge of the Phantom Zone Prisoner! (SM #157, 11/1962)
Superman in Kandor (SM #158, 1/1963)
Superman Under the Red Sun (AC #300, 5/1963)
The Showdown Between Luthor and Superman (SM 164, 10/1963)
The Team of Luthor and Brainiac (SM #167, 2/1964)

Also, the pre-crisis DC Comics Presents Superman team-up book was very, very solid.

    Favorite origin/reboot:
It is still Byrne's Man of Steel
Favorite silver age: Superman 164 Supes and Luthor Showdown
Favorite Bronze Age story: Kryptonite Nevermore/Sand Superman saga
Favorite 90's story: I don't think it is right to separate Death/world Without and Reign they go together so well.
Favorite 00's story: Camelot Falls, Arkham/ Emeror Joker close second
Favorite mini: Kingdom Come, For All Seasons close second
I have more but it gives me an excuse to pull them and look at them again , so I will share more later

I love the Treasury Oversized books from the 70s and 80s. I think most have been reprinted. Superman vs. Wonder Woman, Superman vs. Shazam, Both Superman Spiderman team ups. I also love the Jim Starlin DC Comics presents run. Morrisons JLA run has some spectacular Superman stuff, and Final Crisis features some amazing cosmic Superman. I think the Death of Ferro Lad, Who Took the Super out of Superman, Action Comics 500, Superman 400, and Steve Gerbers Phantom Zone are well worth tracking down. Good stuff on all the lists posted above!
