He knew of her feelings for him, so that felt like a pretty suggestive thing to say. And then later on, when he sees Dane for the first time, his first reaction is to say he looks cuter in person. So, nothing too solid... but those two moments were the closest thing to an expression of sexuality he had in the movie, so I thought it was interesting that both were towards men. I really hope we get him (and Eros) being queer. It's the least they can do to make up for the Sersi/Makkari erasure so they could have two straight couples instead.
I seriously doubt it. Kingo is the jokey guy on the team. He says both of those things to get a rise out of Sprite and Sersi, and it works.

    The Week In Gay:

Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #1 of 5 - Fuse and Alloy make cameo appearances in this issue, and America Chavez has several text messages communicating with Kate.

Symbiote Spider-Man: Crossroads #5 of 5 - Black Cat appears

X-Force: Killshot - various versions of Shatterstar and Deadpool appear in this one-shot special written and drawn by Rob Liefeld celebrating X-Force's 30th anniversary

As for the digital-exclusive comics, there was the conclusion of the Hulkling & Wiccan miniseries, which leaves some dangling threads for potential future stories. Also It's Jeff #12 is a Thanksgiving story with appearances by Fuse, Alloy and America Chavez.

    The Week In Gay

Many of the delayed books finally started coming out this week, so things were a bit more active.

Avengers #50/750 - the Starbrand of the pre-historic Avengers has a small appearance here. Also Mephisto was around and pulling strings of the new Multiversal Masters of Evil.

    Captain Marvel #34 - Phyla-Vell guest stars

Death Of Dr. Strange: Spider-Man Black Cat co-stars in this one-shot helping the new Spider-Man perform a bunch of tasks that Dr. Strange requested that Spider-Man do in the event of Stephen's death.

Marauders #26 - Iceman gets to show off his powers in a one-on-one fight with Fin Fang Foom! Christian Frost also makes an appearance, back on his feet after his near-death experience during the Hellfire Gala. And Shinobi Shaw has a significant family moment.

New Mutants #23 - Karma, Anole and Scout all continue to appear as part of the ongoing cast

Trial Of Magneto #4 - Wiccan and Speed guest star and assist with X-Factor's investigation into the murder of the Scarlet Witch

Giant-Man and Protector have on-screen cameos in Death Of Dr. Strange: White Fox as we see the various Agents of Atlas deployed to deal with demon attacks in multiple locations, but Raz and Issac don't actually appear in the story.

    The Week In Gay:

Death Of Dr. Strange: Blade - Dracula was a major player in this story

Giant-Size Black Cat: Infinity Score - sadly this is the finale of the BLACK CAT solo book, which was currently Marvel's only ongoing solo title with an LGBT title character.

Hellions #18 - another series finale. The Quiet Council appears in this story, so Mystique and Kate Pryde get appearances

Inferno #3 - Destiny and Mystique continue to feature in this

Marvel's Voices: Comunidades - America Chavez gets a story teaming up with Amadeus Cho. Julian (Reptil's cousin) makes a cameo appearance in the story where his sister Eva joins the Strange Academy.

And on the digital-exclusive front, X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic #13 kicked off a new arc which features Deadpool, along with Juggernaut.

    The Week In Gay:

Defenders #4 of 5 - Cloud is the point-of-view character for this issue.

    Eternals #8

Excalibur #26 - this was the final issue of the series...until it gets relaunched as KNIGHTS OF X next year. Rictor and Shatterstar shared a romantic moment, and there is speculation that we are building towards a possible romantic connection between Betsy Braddock and Rachel Grey, but it remains ambiguous subtext at this point.

    Strange Academy #14

And for the digital-exclusives there was X-Men Unlimited: Infinity Comic #14 with Deadpool.

Thank you. Its a tradition that was started by a former poster at these boards and I have been doing my best to keep it going in his absence.

    Absolutely!

Unfortunately with BLACK CAT ended now we won't be going into 2022 with any ongoing solo titles with an openly LGBT lead, but hopefully that will change as we get further into the year. The cancellation of GOTG was another big blow to our ongoing LGBT representation since that team was at least 50% queer by the end of Ewing's run. But at least it looks like the X-books will be continuing to have at least one LGBT member in most of their team books , from what's been announced so far of the upcoming revamped X-line.

America Chavez's DSITMOM Marvel Legends figure has a subtle ''amor es amor'' (love is love) written on her jacket. It seems very unlikely they would put such a detail on the toy if it wasn't a part of her actual look in the movie. I'd say this is our very first evidence that she'll be queer in the MCU. Or maybe it's a reference to her moms, but anyway... definitely sounds like something queer will be going on there.

I don’t see why fans don’t think she’ll be queer in the movie, is it because of the actress age?

Because she already played a young lesbian 2 years ago on a tv show

Disney's poor track record of LGBT representation in film + America being cast much younger than portrayed in comics (as well as much younger than other Young Avengers characters like Kate & Cassie), which could be an easy excuse to avoid romantic relationships.

Welcome to the final Week In Gay for 2021!

As usual the week between Christmas and New Years is a light week for new comic releases, but it was still a significant one with issues from two different 'event' miniseries, and a one-shot hinting at potential storylines for the coming year. Not a big week for LGBT appearances though.

Wastelanders: Star-Lord #1 - Viv Vision appears in this, along with Star-Lord himself of course.

Timeless doesn't specifically have any confirmed LGBT appearances, but among the various teases of possible future events is the emergence of a new version of a team that has historically had significant LGBT representation. So we'll have to wait and see what comes of that--if anything, given that we've already been told some of the teases are red herrings of futures that are not going to happen.

It hasn't been released yet, but coming later this week Iceman is getting his own digital-exclusive one-shot written and drawn by Luciano Vecchio. Mighty Marvel Holiday Special – Iceman's New Year's Resolutions Infinity Comic. So that will be a nice bonus treat to end the year on!

The first Week In Gay of 2022! Here's hoping for a fabulous year of LGBT+ content from Marvel!

Captain Marvel #35 - Phyla and Marvel Boy both continue to appear in this issue, and Phyla has a fairly large guest role. The other Guardians and Avengers get called in for reinforcements, so we get a few more LGBT cameos there.

Inferno #4 - the conclusion to this miniseries which has featured Mystique and Destiny in a major way

The Marvels #7 - Black Cat is part of the cast for this arc

Thor #20 - Loki and Angela both appear

X-Men #6 - the Quiet Council appears in this issue, so we see Mystique, Kate Pryde, etc.

For the digital-exclusives there is X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic #16 which features Deadpool, along with Juggernaut and his new allies from his solo mini last year.

And two TPBs of note for the wait-for-trade crowd - the final arc of the BLACK CAT solo book "The Infinity Score", and the trade of the GAMMA FLIGHT miniseries, which included trans character Dr. Charlene McGowan as part of the cast.
