Great piece of work, but sad at the same time.
How likely are we to see any of these characters ever meaningfully appearing in anything?
The ones that have, have sadly failed and the ones left, Marvel wont pull the trigger on because of the failures of the previous ones.
I will raise my throne above the Stars of God
Huh, I didn't realize Hulkling and Wiccan were the foremost gay characters in the MU. I'd like to see a DC equivalent with Midnighter and Apollo.
Yeah, I've taken a "love 'em while I can" approach. It's the best way to go, I think.
That Vecchio drawing: I like that he drew Sera looking a little thick. Also, Mariko and MJ, aw man, those two, their romance was the saddest thing, because they could never be together. So bittersweet.
I have nothing to add except for:
YES YES YES I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!!! I know he made one of those for the DC characters and I was so disappointed that there wasn't one for the Marvel ones. It's everything I was hoping for and more. <3 Definitely not complaining about Wiccan and Hulkling being front and center. And now I instantly have a new phone wallpaper.
I mean, this kind of thing is subjective, so I'm sure you'll find people out there who don't think of them as the most prominent LGBTQ characters Marvel has. But I do think it says something that when Marvel made a list of their best couples on their YouTube channel, Wiccan and Hulkling were the only gay couple there. I think as far as geek pop culture goes, they have left their mark significantly within the LGBTQ community. Mystique, Loki, Iceman and Hercules are more known characters individually, of course, but not so much because of their LGBTQ status (although this could easily change for Iceman a few years down the line, specially if he comes out in other medias). One could argue Northstar could be replacing them there too, because his status as ''first openly gay character'' will always be very important.
Yes, I think that's supposed to be Herc's arm around Loki. I support that as canon.
As for his DC art, he actually posted an updated version with WW replacing the OC.
You think the gays would line up, sell out, and celebrate an Iceman film?
I'm well versed in the myths and fully realize that mythological Hercules was bisexual, but has this been clearly stated in the Marvel Universe? My Hercules knowledge, in terms of continuity, pretty much ends by the early 90's.
Hercules' sexuality is "up for debate" cuz Alonso ruined the fun for everybody.
Also D-Man had powers? Was that from the old Power Broker stories? I always thought he was super strong from training.
I wish Lockjaw #1 would have been a little more substantial story-wise, but I'm here for gay characters who look like Shaggy from Scooby Doo and whose life is a mess.
Assuming you're genuinely asking and not just trolling, although your tone sounds like you're trolling.
Gay people would support a movie about a gay superhero, the real question is would enough straight people support a movie about a gay superhero. I don't believe they would.
