The Week In Gay:

Happy New Year, everyone! Here's the week in gay for last week...sorry its a bit late!

Fantastic Four #5: As others have already pointed out, we got a D-Man cameo and a bunch of nearly-naked men at the strip poker game at Ben's bachelor party (and a page with some naked male strippers with a glimpse at Alicia's bachelorette party). Thundra also had a guest appearance.

Superior Spider-Man #1: The launch of the new Superior Spidey series includes Max Modell as a member of the supporting cast.

Uncanny X-Men #7: Multiple LGBT characters in this arc.

X-Force #1: Shatterstar is part of the cast for this relaunch.

So--only 4 new books from Marvel last week, but all of them include LGBT characters! I'll take that as a hopeful sign for the new year.

Hear, hear. I really would like to see more character-focused mini-series like Iceman and Shatterstar in the coming year.

The Week In Gay:

Champions #1: Viv is still part of the team in the relaunch, and the first issue had some fallout from her recently kissing Ironheart.

Deadpool #8: Not sure if there was any LGBT content to this particular issue, but I'm listing it for Wade's own pansexuality. The first TPB of Skottie Young's run also came out this week, which includes a guest appearance by Jennifer Kale.

Infinity Wars: Infinity: The new Moondragon and Phyla got a few pages, kicking butt against the Fraternity Of Raptors, with lovely Mark Bagley art.

Runaways #17: More of Nico and Karolina

Shatterstar #4: Plenty of 'Star being badass in this issue

Uncanny X-Men #8: "X-Men Disassembled" continues with Iceman, Northstar, Psylocke, etc.

Honorable mention to Mr & Mrs X #7 since it co-stars Gambit (although his bisexuality has yet to be officially confirmed by Marvel)

Some people love it but I honestly don't like Karolina with this hat lol. It doesn't fit my image of her tbh, though maybe I'm just being affected by the MCU version that is always on delicate white clothes and stuff lol. This scene was sweet(and sad) though.

Shatterstar #4: Plenty of 'Star being badass in this issue

My favourite comic by Marvel at the moment. I'm really liking the way his backstory is explored.

Some people love it but I honestly don't like Karolina with this hat lol. It doesn't fit my image of her tbh, though maybe I'm just being affected by the MCU version that is always on delicate white clothes and stuff lol. This scene was sweet(and sad) though.

It doesn't jive with the aesthetic we were introduced to --the whole vegan hippie vibe from yesteryear. I have to continually remind myself when looking at Karolina that as we age, we grow and evolve and our tastes and styles shift.

I have to admit though that I'm still thrown off by her thickness. She and Nico were the bean poles of the crew, and once again yes I have to continually remind myself that as we age, we grow and evolve and gain weight, but Anka also has a proclivity for beefing/roiding his ladies ever since he Amazon'ed Illyana Rasputin. Even Gert seems much larger than her earlier days, but maybe that's in response to the other designs. Or an optical illusion. I dunno.

For emphasis: Its not a criticism -- the thickness. I love variances in body shape, type, height, etc. Its just not what I'm used to from these specific characters.

I never really thought much about Karolina's style being different and/or uncharacteristic of her before this one tbh. I think it definetely stands out, I even searched for Kris' style guides for comparison lol.

Her body is definetely just Kris Anka being Kris Anka tbh, but since it's only her(out of the girls) on this book, I can accept it as being part of her character now. With Gert I see it as more of just an art style thing though, especially since she's NOT supposed to have aged and changed, especially on the first issues.
