Karolina and Nico got a pretty big boost from the Runaways show.

Angela has leftover recognizability from when she was a Spawn character.

And America Chavez was in the Marvel Rising animated stuff, had a solo and an upcoming mini, and is rumored to be coming to the MCU

Most of these characters have made it into games like Marvel Future Fight or the Lego games
Yeah, Mystique may be the most recognizable name of Marvel's LGBT women, thanks to the X-Men movies (and the popularity of the X-line in general), but these days I wouldn't necessarily call her the most recognizable female LGBT character...at least not outside the main comic fandom. The comics have finally started acknowledging Mystique's bisexuality and referencing her relationship with Destiny again, but for the most part that aspect of her character has yet to be addressed in the movies, cartoons, games, etc. Karolina, Nico, and Ms America have all had their sexuality acknowledged in other media.

The other woman who might challenge Mystique for the most recognizable 'name' for an LGBT female at Marvel would be Black Cat--who is also finally having her bisexuality acknowledged in the comics again.

I hope that soon some more X-Women will be confirmed as queer.

Kitty, Rachel, Magik, Storm maybe even Jubilee, Pixie, Armor, Laura.

Betsy has yet to be with another women after female Fantomex.

Mystique is still definetely the most famous one of those. Not famous for being LGBT though if that's the criteria.

Yeah, sorry, that's what I meant. Most recognizable name. And the fact that, despite of that, she's not the most recognizable female LGBT character is what makes it sad.

Marvel, and comics in general, seem to, in at least 90% of cases, only want to make one type of bisexual character. Have them sleep, or be in a relationship, with one character of the same sex, sweep it under the rug, and then, whenever you need to meet a "diversity quota" (ugh, I hate using that dogwhistle), point to that character and talk about how inclusive you are while not showing any signs of bisexuality within the comic, itself.

Which would be fine, hetero leaning bisexual people do exist, except for: a) it's inconsistent with Mystique's characters, and b) almost every bisexual character is written that way. And that's when it becomes a bloody trope.

When Felicia finally gets married to the woman(of her dreams), she'll make damn sure that Mary Jane becomes the woman who gives her away to the bride.

Todd McFarlane should buy Angela back from Marvel. She's so out of place in that universe.

She's one of those characters in a weird spot where she's extremely famous but the majority of people who recognize her probably wouldn't know she's bi because they're way more likely to know her from the movies or cartoons than the comics. It's annoying her most high profile romance in other media was with Beast of all people.

It should have been The Beast and Tigra instead of Mystique. Now image if Mystique was in a longterm relationship with Black Cat?

Neither of those were an option as Fox did not have the Avengers or Spider-Man rights.

Who they had was Destiny, and they just ignored her.

Destiny has so much potential than being Mystique's lover.

FOX did Mystique so dirty. But now I'm actually kinda glad they never tried to make her like her comic book counterpart because Marvel Studios will be able to use a lot of her history without feeling like a rehash. We can get Destiny, her relationship with Rogue, maybe even her early time as a Carol Danvers villain now that she's in a bigger universe... All the good stuff. The bad part is that there is the possibility they're not using her so soon due to how overexposed she was under the post-First Class FOX movies. They might wanna prioritize mutants that were overlooked by FOX, which makes sense. But I'm willing to wait longer to see her again if they actually do her justice this time around.

    Empyre Aftermath

    spoilers:
Lots of Billy and Teddy content and Prodigy & Speed, Marvel Boy & Hercules, America & Alloy all show up as well. The most queers together in one scene since that Pride story I think.
    end of spoilers
