Well, looks like Hickman has finally revealed his LGBT Avenger... at least I guess she's an Avenger. The criteria for membership has been pretty fluid so I'm assuming she's one of Sunspot's/AIM's Avengers at least.

Edit: just checked the front page with all the teams listed. She's considered a New Avenger.

So, here's to history. The first active duty LGBT Avenger.

Hopefully she gets a cooler name in the future. "Dreadnought" would be cool and it sort of has times to AIM. Or "Cruiser/Battlecruiser" since it has a less "evil/threatening" sound to it.

Yeah. Who is about right. She's a robot they fought at while back from one of the biocontamination sites that AIM shoved into one of it's portals after the battle. Apparently it's really a Norwegian woman in a symbiotic battle suit. She's on Sunspots Avengers along with Manifold, Smasher, Canonball, Shang Chi, Validator, Black Widow, and Spider-Woman... oh and Beast apparently as well.

Truthfully, I never expected it would be an older character. Unfortunately we're just now learning about her so she's still mostly a clean slate other than a really quick line about her Girlfriend.

Regardless, she still is the first active duty "out" Avenger.

Wow, not quite the reveal people were expecting.

I stopped reading the Avengers titles, they became a mess and I had no idea what was happening. I might read the 8 Months Later storyline once it is done, too confusing to read in parts.

Yep, she was on the Alpha Flight team that entered the impact zone. She got transformed.

That's true but it's still a first and should be acknowledged. Maybe/hopefully she gets fleshed out in the future and becomes popular.

I was hoping the new out Avenger would be a guy, but I do hope this new lesbian Avenger becomes an interesting character. She definitely needs a better superhero name though.

Call me cynical, but I doubt a character who just appeared is gonna be that prominent when nowhere have they promoted said character...

True, but a character doesn't necessarily have to be prominent to be interesting. She could show some potential for the future.
