RIGHT! It's time for a smackdown, hunties! The Good Fairy is Back, and BOY does he not like this porn/anti-porn battle. Love, not war!

While I appreciate the entertainment, not everyone who posts in this thread is a gay male. I would hate it to deter other members of the LGBT community from posting in here.
I totally get where you are coming from... BUT... (while Pokemon Go isn't Marvel, the discussion did stem from a Marvel base) and no I don't think we shouldn't "not" discuss anything because it excludes. If we DON'T discuss things (like trans characters, or lesbian solo series) that is bad, that is exclusion. But talking about Marvel gay porn in a Marvel LGBT thread is fair game. It's appreciating after all Talking about something specifically gay isn't excluding trans, lesbians or women or str8 allies; anymore than discussion Billy being awesome, Iceman coming out and all of us wanting a gay solo series (which is 70% of the discussions of the last year). Talking about gay things (for want of a MUCH more appropriate phrase) isn't excluding. That would be if we ONLY talked about them (which we do not).

While overall I enjoyed Young Avengers, for me personally, I felt a little removed from it just because of the age difference between me and characters.
However, I know New Avengers has Hawkeye, Sunspot, Songbird, etc. so maybe I should just pull the trigger!
I suppose it depends WHY you're reading it. If it's for Billy/Teddy, I don't think it'll thrill you. And while Sunspot and Songbird are closer to your age, they are very "kid speak" in dialogue sometimes (which put me off; in Young Avengers is made sense, they ARE teenagers, after all). Some love the series, me... if it weren't for Billy and Songbird, I'd have dropped it. It did finally kick up a gear around the crossover.

Kieran, I usually agree with you, but I have to disagree on this. While I think it is great the majority of the posters in here feel comfortable enough to discuss so openly with each other, not everyone is at that comfort level. You are right, talking about something specifically "G" out of "LGBT" is not excluding the other groups or allies. However, not everyone is comfortable talking about porn with people they barely know. Especially porn they would never watch. This is, as stated, an appreciation thread for LGBT Marvel characters. I personally have nothing against porn or the discussion of it, I just don't think this is the appropriate place for it. Maybe a separate thread should be created in the community forum if their is enough people who want to discuss.

And just to be fair, I would be saying the same thing if I ever spotted something like this in a character's specific appreciation thread.

Jeez tongue and cheek joke gone wrong. I was joking about the porn thing. Just saying it was an addiction. I never compared it to devestating life altering affects such as cocaine, alcohol and other actual drugs.

The gun control thing was seperate. Like how marvel likes to mirror what happens in the real world with comics. Just trying to tackle an lgbt centric team on real world problems is all. Sorry.

Well, for NA, I started reading for Billy and Teddy, and it's disappointing that they didn't had much of the spotlight after their first arc on 3-6, but the entire team and it's dynamics grew on me. The tone reminds me a bit of MAOS(the show), that I love.

And about the porn: Yeah, the Pokemon stuff didn't had anything to do with the thread, I guess we just talked cause by now we're used to talk about anything LGBT-related like a bunch of friends. But it did started with the X-Men/Captain America parodies, and I think that's related enough. And if you think not, we can argue Iceman was there and there was a whole campaign for Captain America and Bucky to finally explicitly show their love

You're free to disagree with it.
Less so to dictate what people can and can't talk about. Or are you a moderator perhaps?
Or can we all cherrypick things we're uncomfortable with and choose to ban them from this thread?
No one is forcing anyone to talk about porn with strangers. You're not forced to take part in a conversation. There have been plenty of discussions I didn't particularly care for on here and I chose not to wade into them. I didn't feel outraged about them happening though.
Also, you trying to ban it would seem to contradict you saying you don't have a problem with porn or the discussion of it.

It would be fine if your problem was that it wasn't on-topic. Which the Pokemon Go porn isn't, but the superhero ones were. But that wasn't your argument. You seem to want the discussion gone because you simply don't like it. So... censorship.

And I still fail to see what the diference would be with moving it to a 'community forum'. As long as it's about superheroes and being LGBT and positive. Surely this is the right place for it.
There's also the fact that people might want to chat about it here, because they know the people who chat on this forum. They might want to hear opinions of people they're familiar with.

Sorry, must have went right over my head.

As for the porn discussion, I am not a moderator, I have no control over what is being discussed here. All I ask is that people respect that other posters come in here to share in their appreciation of their favorite LGBT comic character and not necessarily the porn star who is playing them in an adult film.

I wont say anything more on the matter, so carry on!

I do agree we should put the porn to bed (HA!); but I don't think the discussion was anything scandalous. I get not everyone wants to talk about porn BUT we were hardly discussing positions, and graphic descriptions. Esp. the Pokemon stuff was more "REALLY? Ooooookay" than anything else. That said, we have (indeed) spent far too much time on a NON-Marvel tangent. To bed, I say, to bed!!!!

NEW TOPIC: what LGBT comic are posters most enjoying right now (doesn't have to be LGBT lead, it's Marvel, chance would be a fine thing), but what comic with some form of LGBT goodness have you squealing?

This is so not the discussion I thought we'd be having after mention the Pokemon GO porn parody. My apologies.

WicDiv continues to be amazing, and full of The Gay, of all kinds. Insexts, by Marguerite Bennett and Ariela Kristantina, is deeply messed-up, full of body horror right next to explicit lesbian sex, and is a great feminist story. Bitch Planet isn't an LGBT lead, but it does have some LGBT content, with the main character's sibling being trans.

For Marvel, Black Panther obviously gets a big nod, with the Midnight Angels, and I am so excited for their spin-off. New Avengers has me totally invested in the Toni/Aikku ship. Hellcat, likewise, has me totally invested in the Tom/Ian ship. (One of you ask the other out! Make a move! Our hearts can't take much more of this!). I'm glad to see Cindy's friends getting more focus in Silk right now, and Tana Ford seems to love drawing these hip young lesbians.

And I'm looking forward to reading my PDF copy of My Monster Boyfriend, an anthology from Iron Circus Comics. I backed it on Kickstarter, so I got the PDF early, but I believe it goes on sale through the Iron Circus website starting tomorrow. Note that Iron Circus puts out a lot of very gay comics, and a lot of very diverse comics. C. Spike Trotman, the founder and operator, is a gay black woman (whose most recent comic, Yes, Roya, with art by Emilee Denich, is a great read). So if diversity in comics is something you care about, Iron Circus is worth checking out. So is Northwest Press, another LGBT comics publisher.

I said I wouldn't say anymore, but I have to respond to this...

First of all I think I have been pretty respectful in all my responses on this. I would appreciate that in response.

I am not trying to ban anything. I simply suggested this thread is probably not the place to discuss porn. Also, I am not "outraged". I am just trying to be aware that others post in here and not everyone is comfortable discussing porn.

And Sorry, but this topic is NOT about superheroes or comics. It is about porn.

That is completely fine that people on these boards want to discuss it with others on here who they are familiar with. I just think it would be more appropriate under a thread dedicated to that topic.

Also, I am 28 years old, I am not all that comfortable sharing or hearing thoughts about porn from people who could potentially be under-age. As far as I am aware, anyone can make a username on this board regardless of age. Again, this goes back to my point of being aware that other people post here.

I don't think I am being outrageous in asking others to consider this should be a safe & inviting place for everyone.

    Total agreement.
Angela on Bendis Guardians book shows more personality than she did in her last solo (aways felt Queen of Hell was more about Sera than Angela) and i am liking it.

Sera should be in GotG with Angela. Honestly, I'm betting the fact that Angela's a lesbian probably won't even come up in GotG. Bendis just doesn't really seem to include actual LGBT content in his comics. He sometimes includes LGBT characters, but they don't get to have romances. It makes me wonder if Bendis held off on Iceman coming out until the very end of his run so that he wouldn't have to actually deal with it.

Regardless, I'd like it if Bendis at least had Sera show up, complete with smooching.

Angela was a character from the Spawn comics. Marvel bought the rights to the character, and brought into the Marvel Universe. She's an Asgardian, the daughter of Odin and Freyja, stolen as a baby by the Angels of Heven. When she grew up, she became one of Heven's greatest warriors. During a job, she met Sera, who was identified as male at birth, and thus was sent to live with a bunch of monks. Sera never felt comfortable there, so asked for help in escaping the monastery, and then transitioned to female, making her an extremely rare trans character from Marvel. Angela and Sera became lovers, then Sera died during a job. Angela learned that dead Angels were sent to Hel, so she stormed Hel and conquered it just so she could return Sera to life.

Satellite Falling is a great book with a lesbian lead and it's a shame the title doesn't get enough attention. I believe the lead character in Shutter is a lesbian (or bisexual) and that book is a rollercoaster of emotions. It's definitely very creative, even if you feel a bit tossed around at some points.

I really love the Midnight Angels and am glad they are getting a spin-off as they are the only compelling part of the Black Panther run IMO. I am not getting the feels I was hoping for with Coates' book. The MA are the only characters where I really feel the sense of urgency, loss, heartache, and yearning whereas the rest of the book reads very stiffly to me.

Backstagers, featuring *maybe* an all-queer cast, is adorable and cute but won't be for everyone. It is very much a Boom! title (I am personally not a fan of their biggest hit, the very queer Lumberjanes), but I like James Tynion IV (an openly bisexual comics writer) a lot outside of this title so I have a lot of confidence in him.

I think DC's Midnighter by queer writer Steve Orlando was by far one of the best mainstream queer titles I've ever read and am glad he and his partner Apollo are teaming up for a miniseries later this year.
