I don't see Shiro as self-hating so much as arrogant af and viewing himself as too far above everyone else to bother with trifling things like romance. But yeah, I'd be interested to see how him and Bobby strike sparks off each other.

And OMG yes, give me gay-as-dad's-hatband Pyro sublimating his desire for broad-chested manly-men into the POVs of his romance novel heroines because being a third-tier bad guy fucking wrecks your romantic prospects. XD Really, I'd be happy with a writer coming in and building on Simon/NuPyro and Bobby's FWB situation too, I just think Shiro and SinJin have some inherently more interesting hooks if we're going to go Fire and Ice. A little bit of bad boy to each of them, but not enough to put Daken out.

I don't so much like Daken for himself, but I like him for the potential friction. The will they/won't they. They won't, of course; I think rehabbing Daken is just more heavy lifting than any writer wants to do (especially considering how easily his character progress gets undone). But the tease is fun.

Its a tricky question, and my answer could probably change depending on what day I was asked....but those are my 5 at this moment. I'd always liked Miguel, even before he was outed--and the work that Al Ewing (and Zub and Waid) did with him in AVENGERS: NO SURRENDER just reminds us how much potential he still has, if someone will just make the effort to use him. I've also always had a great fondness for Phyla, and watching her evolve as she's tried taking on two different legacy mantles and eventually started to forge her own identity.

Oh wow, I'd totally forgotten about Living Lightning and Striker! Gay or not, two of my favorite characters (I love Miguel's 'turn-to-lightning' powers and generally nice disposition, and I love Brandon's not-even-a-little-bit-nice disposition...). Both sadly underused.
