Default Who is your best Star Trek main character Doctor?

*Couldn't find a pic that also had New McCoy in it, but whatever.

I think the captain poll went well, and while that is of course still open for voting and discussion, I decided to try my hat at other key positions occupied by main characters that were seen throughout Trek's history. So today, we'll be looking at the doctors.

When exploring the final frontier, being stationed at the beginning of the frontier, or being lost in an uncharted region of space, there are any amount of sicknesses, diseases, or ailments that one may encounter. As such, these folks are on hand to cure whatever medical emergencies you have.

In this poll, give a vote on who is your personal favorite: Prime McCoy, Crusher, Pulaski, Bashir, The Doctor, Phlox, or New McCoy

I think that there's a difference between who would be a person's favorite doctor and who would be considered the best doctor, the best at his/her job...not sure that they'd be the same person...

When even Leonard Nimoy claimed that Urlban was channeling Kelley rather than acting, I'm not sure you really need to separate the two in the poll.

Anyways, I'm voting McCoy, followed closely by the EMH.

Probably Bashir. This is a tough one though. I think the complexity of his struggle of self worth was compelling. He didn't know if he could reasonably take credit for any of his accomplishments due to his enhancements. He did so many amazing things, but didn't know if he deserved credit. The next place would be a toss up between bones prime and phlox.

Bones McCoy remains my favorite. A southern gent, a natural healer, and the emotional counter to Spock's cool logic approach; McCoy was just fun.
He often had the best lines even in so so movies "It's his revenge for all those arguments he lost"

Second place for me would be the EMH, probably one of the best characters in Voyager (though some would say that show doesn't raise the bar)

    Third place? Probably Crusher.

I'm not sure I can pick just one!

Bashir and Phlox are my two favorites, one for his story arc and constant source of frustration (both romantically and professionally, single-handedly curing Ketricil-White addiction, which would have cut the Gem'Hadar away from Dominion/Founder control and pretty much ended the Dominion War, and having it shot down!) and the other because he was hilarious and yet didn't take it too far and become annoying (like, IMO, similar 'funny alien comic relief' characters Neelix and Quark sometimes did) but I have a soft spot for Pulaski, for never quite fitting in with the Enterprise crew, and helping to show them in a different light (as an outsider looking in) for her brief stay, giving her character a bit more narrative utility.

Karl Urban's McCoy was the only thing I liked about the wretched reboot, but I voted for the original McCoy. He set the standard.

But I also really liked Dr. Crusher and Dr. Phlox as well.

The underrated and underutilized Beverly Crusher.

If I could vote twice, they'd go to both McCoys, though New McCoy needs more screentime.

The Doctor from Voyager is my personal favourite doctor as I feel he had the best character arc.

DeForest Kelley McCoy, by quite a margin.

Crusher has about one good episode, remember me, Pulasky was decent enough but didn't last, i don't care much about Voyager and not at all about Enterprise and Bashir, well, he's an acceptable runner up.

Cause and effect was good true enough, not sure i would call it a Crusher centric episode but anyway, good episode.

The host, nah, not my cup of tea. Nor is Suspicions.
