When did Cypher become a Daredevil supporting character and why?

I don’t think he appeared in any other issue in the series. Probably just showed up in this one so Soule could prove he’s okay and so that future writers wouldn’t get the wrong idea after the “Hunt for Wolverine” series.

He was a part of the Weapon Lost mini for the Hunt for Wolverine. The current DD arc is spinning out of that.

Disappointed that Cypher seems to have the long hair and beard in the Uncanny promo image. Though it could always be a mistake.

I just read Daredevil 606. It seems that Cypher is going to be semi-permanent (at least one arc) as part of the investigation team on the Mayor of NYC.

So it's not just one issue. Charles Soule seems to like him but he doesn't know how to use Cypher's full powers.

Cypher in Daredevil #609 was cool looking unlike the unkempt Cypher in 'hunt for Wolverine' series.

But his powers are underused, reduced to just a computer guy who can hack computers or good at googling.

Technically the last official New Mutants during Utopia were all considered X-Men, but with them being split up into a squad under the New Mutants title. So almost every classic NM character was technically an X-Man at that time (Wolfsbane being the real exception) and appeared in and out of the other X-Men books at the time as a member, too.

Cypher is underused again in Daredevil 610.

Cypher was able to hack into the enemy's computer and get enemy's work schedule. That's all?

He should have been able to fight that guy called Vigil with body language.
