Question Bleeding Cool: Would Marvel Really Cancel Fantastic Four To Snub Fox?

just read some news at CBR that they are cancelling the Fantastic Four titles (Ultimates and 616). anyone know anything about it? the team is kind of dissolving in the books.

That's just some stupid rumor that Bleedingcool started, http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/05/...r-to-snub-fox/

And there is no way that is happening. What reasonable explanation would they possibly have for cancelling both of those titles for no reason at all. It wouldn't help them in any way shape or form. Could they take a hiatus for a month or two like Loki is with Original Sin, yes but just canceling them entirely is ridiculous.

That article is hilarious considering that a Sony character is front and center.

There's actually been more cooperation between Sony and Marvel. Case in point, Marvel animation putting Spider-Man out along with more synergy shown with the movies and the comics. Compare that to the properties that Fox owns.

Those seem more a coincidence and based around Spider-Man being far more popular.
Every time Marvel tries an X-Men or Fantastic Four cartoon they end up getting cancelled.

    Which sucks.

Ultimate FF sold terribly, it wouldn't be a surprise if it gets cancelled. The rest seems Rich making stuff up.

Yeah it doesn't really make sense. These are big megacorporations not five-year olds.

A coincidence? Read the article. The X-Men still sell well and hold appeal yet you see the lack of internal promotion. Look at the fact that even Wolverine didn't get on the cover. Legitimate or not, there are grounds for that conspiracy theory.

On topic though, I don't think this rumor is true at all. Maybe the Ultimate FF part which would be a shame but not with FF as it's about to hit the Original Sin tie-in issues along with fallout from that.

What a stupid idea. As long as Fantastic Four is profitable, it will continue to exist. And hell, even if it's not, Marvel will probably keep it going, simply because of what it is.

Conspiracy bunk. Why would Marvel shun the very team that brought the company into prominence in the first place, the same team that started the MU and are beloved by so many, over petty quarrels with movie companies?

    Doesn't FF sell decent?

I don't think Marvel like promoting the Fox stuff they didn't even tweet go see the new X-Men movie lol but they promoted the Spider-Man movie on twitter.
    We need better comics

With the ridiculous Fantastic Four babies adaptation coming out from Fox I hope to God some real FF still exist somewhere.

Seriously doubt it. The FF will still always have comics, even if their rights are with Fox.
