While I'm not that familiar with Shayera in the comics, it's good to see her being discussed. I'm loving the different images presented here. She was a very interesting character from the cartoon. I would love to see more of her. There's also another thread from a different site being discussed about her too currently, which you can look here. I'm happy people are having their say for her.
Thanks for sharing! I've said my piece on there.
Since I realized that the internet is lacking in good Shayera scans...Here's some from Action Comics #588:
Hawkwoman takes out Byth and Darkwing (not the duck) all while piloting a ship.
By request, here's a pretty Gene Espy picture of Hawkwoman for you all:
Batman: I need your help finding a man named Vulko.
Hawkman: You want him dead or alive?
- Justice League #17
Question: Is Princess Shayera alive or not?
I thought if anyone knew then it would be someone who posted here.
Thanks.
She seeming died in an explosion over Thanagar in The Savage Hawkman #16. No body, though, so she could easily be brought back (and with red hair, to boot, hopefully).

Alright you guys, since I can't stand the missing chunk in my Hawk-collection, I went ahead and ordered the entirety of the 90s Hawkworld and Hawkman series. That makes me one giant leap closer to having all of Shayera's comic appearances.
I would love to see her brought back alive and well. And I agree that she should have and forever keep her red hair. Mera and Starfire shouldn't be the only exotic red-heads in the DCnU. Plus if Beast Boy can seemingly change from red back to green as shown in the upcoming covers for the Teen Titans relaunch, then Shayera can return as a red-head and we can forget that blonde-haired imposter for good.
We are the Dora Milaje. We are the daughters of the 18 tribes of Wakanda. We are the teeth of the Panther God. Out of 10,000 years of sweat and bloodshed and battle are we born. We are the women of this ancient land. Deadliest of the species. And our time has come!
I agree, they don't really need much of any explanation to change her hair back. Just have her show up as a redhead next time. Besides, it's an easily identifiable trait with the character because her shade was always different and much more natural looking than the Crayola hues of most redheads in comic books.
I'll try to do a recap of my thoughts every time I think I've reached an appropriate conclusion to an arc.
My Hawkman books came in! Reviews will surely follow (don't expect a schedule).
