The underage orgy will thankfully not be making it into this. I understand the scene with context, but even then it's the only part of the novel that I would be 100% with them cutting out.
That makes me very happy. I hope the shot of them going into the sewer is being saved for the sequel then. The ending should be the confrontation with IT in the haunted house on Neibolt street. Then they can juxtapose the confrontation with IT's true form between children and adults in the second movie. That would be fantastic.

I disagree. The biggest scare and the scene with the most emphasis was the gradual reveal via the haunted projector. That was a slow build that only seemed fast because the children (and they ARE children) panicking. It was the creepiest scene, and also the opposite of a jump scare.

Of course, this is just a trailer, but even the fast jump scares, if you'll notice, display no sign whatsoever of Pennywise's voice, either. And by no means am I comparing any contemporaries to Hitchcock or Carpenter, but Hitchcock and Carpenter weren't timid with their jump scares.

Trailer feels generic. But I'll be optimistic.

Still up in the air if this one will be good or not, but the trailers really make me want to go back and read the book again.

Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Stephen King himself could not have come up with such a great title.

There's been 3 new spots released, this one includes a scene at the end I don't think was in the books but fits in thematically to the stuff Pennywise could do perfectly and is genuinely creepy, particularly how he'd use images of his victims to taunt the Losers(if you look at the scene you can see several of the children are clearly corpses in varying states of decay)

also word from the filming is that Bill Skarsgard is knocking it out of the park, apparently there was one take where he scared some of the child extras into hysterically crying in the middle of a take

the one thing that the book did so well, that I hope the movie can do is instill that feeling of dread - that any of these kids can be a victim of IT at any moment

edit: Posted in the wrong thread, so I'll cover my embarrassment by posting one of the other tv spots

some of the speculation I've seen is that that's Pennywise's voice while in his Leprous Hobo guise
