Default Remember when Myspace was awesome

It was not too long ago when Myspace was the Facebook of its day. It was new and exciting. Then it went corporate and everything that made it a great site was gone. It was around that time when Facebook open its doors to the masses when it originally started off as a college face to face website. What really went wrong with Myspace and how it lost to Facebook? I certainly miss the old Myspace because it was nothing like Facebook was back then or even today.

No. I don't really miss being either a) ambushed with terrible music when I opened someone's page; or b) having to wait for it to load because of their insistence on using backgrounds with rotating objects, usually marijuana leaves.

I'm also old and crotchety, so keep that in mind.

Myspace sucked; just like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram suck.

Yeah, MySpace was awesome in the beginning. I loved being able to customize my page, but the coolest thing was suddenly having a way to reconnect with old friends from school and childhood that I had lost touch with over the years. I think I was there for about 4-5 years before moving over to Facebook in 2010, but it was fun while it lasted.

I loved Myspace when I started there in 2007 . I had my layout with a beach theme and had Sammy Hagar beach music lol. It was fun. Sadly though no one ever got on the site and it fell apart. I went to facebook in 2009 . Is it even around still ?

No, I do not remember when MySpace was awesome. I remember when MySpace was so horrific looking that I learned HTML on my own so I could do things right.

I remember "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature" was the song that played when you came to my space.

No; but, I do remember what it was like when people actually had face-to-face conversations and used the phone to talk to one another, instead of texting back and forth. Then again, I remember when a cell phone was a pay phone (remember them?) mounted inside a jail cell. Heck, I remember when you actually had to "dial" a phone. In my day, Myspace and Facebook were called "letters." We walked uphill, through snow and lava (at the same time!) to drop them into a mailbox.

Yeah, I should credit MySpace with prompting me to learn basic HTML, I even learned a bit about what a CSS was. MySpace was fun for like a year or two then it got jammed full of video ads that bogged down my computer so visiting there was slow. So far Facebook hasn't done that and even more people are on it so it's doing better than MySpace ever did.
