Default Amazing Spider-Man - best story arcs/graphic novels

    Hi there,

I apologise for posting but I'm not very good in using the search (i'm too old :-) ) and I know you guys can help me.

I need a few recommendations for Amazing Spide-Man, preferably older stuff, can be single issues creating a complete story arc or as a collected TBP - I don't mind.
I'm having a real hard time to get to grips with the whole universe, I liked Craven's last hunt for example or the Marvel Knights series.

Thanks for helping, if there is a thread out there (which I believe it is) can you post me the link?
    Thank you so much!

Here are a few discussions on the topic.

We're currently two issues into a mini-series Renew Your Vows, which should be rather accessible. It's by Dan Slott, the main Spider-Man writer, but depicts an alternate universe where most of the superheroes have been wiped out, and Peter Parker's just trying to raise his kid. Most comic stores should have the two issues in stock.
    Sincerely,

You really can't go wrong with The Death of Jean DeWolff, as well its follow up story, which is collected in one volume.

I still enjoy the Michelinie / McFarlane run on Amazing Spider-man as well, which is collected in a few volumes.

JMS' Coming Home is also definitely worth checking out.

hi just got back from a local comic store and managed to pick up The death of Jean de Wolff as single issues. Looking forward to it. Renew your vows sounds interesting but I don't like the art work, sorry. Thanks for the links I will have a good look at them!

Edit: wow! Great story, really enjoyed reading it, thanks again for the recommendation!

Everything Stan Lee. Everything Straczynski (except "One More Day," of course). "The Death of Jean DeWolff." "Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut." And any and all J.M. DeMatteis stuff you can find.

For my money, the Hobgoblin and Symbiote sagas are tops.
