Default Last Days : The Punisher #20. Spoilers

It was a very satisfying end to Frank Castle in the 616. One thing people would like to see is the fanaticism of Terrorists and their rantings shut up if the world was ever to end, and Frank gets to see that in his own little world in Tikrit. Frank is dropped into Tikrit, the base for the Black Dawn Fighters, because the U.S. want someone to shut them up with bullets and bombs instead of just let them feel they are going to heaven knowing they murdered for righteousness. It is a small satisfaction, because there are many factions out there who I consider just gangsters, myself. They make all this noise about how the world is so wrong and they are so right, but all they are is murderers. You'll never get rid of them, because there will always be a black market economy.

    Spoilers

Frank has infiltrated Tikrit and the headquarters of the Black Dawn Fighters. Their ring leader is ranting about how he is going to hang Frank upside down and bleed him out, but things go another way. Incursion is starting to rumble around the world because it is happening in New York, and Tikrit is on the other side of the world. Frank is moving from place to place in the dark, bombs exploding, shots fired, lumps of concrete falling breaking mens heads, until Frank is cornered in a corridor, and just escapes as a cannon is set off, but he took a hit. That's when he corners the ring leader and slices his throat. More street hand to hand until the last fighter drops. Frank has a dozen hits and is bleeding out. The night turns white, as the Incursion hits and Frank says, "Pain is drowning, and drowning is....". That's all folks.

In the context of the Punisher as the angel of vengeance, Frank fulfills his mission in the way he set out on day one. There are bad men in the world and he wants to make sure they never live to enjoy what they steal.

The art was very good here too. Very crisp, and very stark, with fine line work making you feel the realism of a Punisher massacre. Adi Granov could have done this it is so similar.
